Tome Topple TBR (Round 5)

Tome Topple 5

Hello fellow bookworms 📚 it’s finally time again for Tome Topple, more specifically Round 5, the last one for this year! If you don’t know Tome Topple Readathon is all about reading huge books (over 500 pages) – called tomes – and was created by SamThoughts on Tomes!  This time we’ve got the following Co-Hosts!

Co-Hosts for Round 5 📚

Sian –

Now unto the most important facts! The Readthon will take place from November 17th -to November 30th, so the last two weeks of November. The challenges are the same as every round and like always I won’t be completing the one with the graphic novels, as well as several others, but more in a bit. In addition, there will be Instagram challenges, but since I don’t have an IG account, I won’t be doing these. However, if that sounds interesting to you, go for it!

Reading Challenges 📚

1. Read more than 1 tome
2. Read a graphic novel (still over 500 pages!)
3. Read a tome that is part of a series
4. Buddy read a tome
5. Read an adult novel

My Tome Topple TBR 📚

I won’t be reading as much as usual, because NaNoWriMo and university will be in full swing, but I simply could not resist the Readthon. I didn’t participate in the November Round last year, but I figured that this year I could do it and aim for a bit more modest TBR. Taking part in Tome Topple was a sponteanous decision, as I’d already made reading plans for November, but they could be adjusted. I won’t be completing as many challenges because of my TBR choices, but that’s okay as I’m here to have fun and conquer big books after all.

1. Read more than 1 tome ✅  I’ve got two books on my TBR
2. Read a graphic novel (still over 500 pages!)
3. Read a tome that is part of a series ✅ Demon Road & Passenger
4. Buddy read a tome
5. Read an adult novel

1. The Book Thief (Markus Zusak) 📚 554 pages

As for what I’ll be reading, I was immediately sure that I would be reading The Book Thief, as I recently got a copy from a used book store and had wanted to read it for a long time, since everyone loved it. I’m really excited and hope that I’ll like the book as much as everyone else! In addition, there is the movie to watch, which promises even more fun, as I’ve not yet seen it either. However, when it came to the second book things got more tricky.

2. Demon Road (Derek Landy) 📚 507 pages

3. Passenger (Alexandra Bracken) 📚 512 pages

Since I had limited time I didn’t want to read a book over 600 pages, I wanted to keep it between 500 and 600. Therefore, a lot of books I owned (e.g. any of the Lightbringer books, The Lies of Locke Lamora) would take me too long to read. Some of them (e.g. City of Heavenly Fire) I was just trying to get through to finish a Series and didn’t want to force myself to read during this stressful time. All the tomes in my library were checked out … so you could say that I had a lot of bad luck. In the end I settled upon Demon Road and Passenger, the only ones available that I really wanted to reach! I really, really wanted to get to Uprooted (the german translation has over 500 pages), but the person that had checked it out of the library extended their loan until December. 😭

Are you participating in this Round of Tome Topple? If so what will you be reading? If not, what are your favorite tomes? 📚

  1. I probably won’t be participating in Tome Topple because weirdly enough, I don’t have that many 500+ books on my TBR or shelves (at least unread ones)?! I mean, I could finally read The Book Thief which I started like two years ago but never actually finished but I’ve really been into more fantasy books lately so I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much right now.

Good luck to you and your reading plans! ❤
