Describe Your Perfect Reading Spot

📚 This is what my paradise looks like. I have always, always, always wanted a reading nook with a window seat so BADLY, because the aesthetic is on point 😍 I would love to sit by the window, huddling between pillows and cozying up with a blanket and just read and look outside – this is the ultimate bookworm dream for me! The pictures above perfectly show how I would want my reading nook to look like: light, inviting and cozy with inbuilt bookshelves! I really have to believe that at some point I will be able to finally fulfill this dream and get myself a window seat where I can devour my books and live the bookworm aesthetic!

Tell Us 3 Book Confessions

📚 I’m not a huge fan of audiobooks. I definitely think they are very practical and great for many readers, I’m just not one of them. I have listened to a few over the last months, but they will never be my preferred method of reading. I’m a very visual person who best absorbs by reading so listening to books doesn’t come as naturally to me. However, I’m very glad that so many readers have discovered audiobooks as a form of reading that greatly benefits them and proves to be helpful!

📚 I don’t really mind cover changes. I wouldn’t say that I’m happy about them (even though there have been a lot of great changes lately that included PoC models!), but I don’t worry about them as much as other readers. For me it’s way more important that my books have the same height! If a cover change involves changing the height and making it smaller or larger THEN we have a problem, because nothing annoys me as much as my Series not looking even. This has happened too many times, not even with cover changes but generally ordering a book online and it being smaller, which makes a lot of my Series not match. (Crooked Kingdom & The Star-Touched Queen being a lot smaller than the other book in the Duology, book 4 in the Lightbringer Series, THE SELECTION SERIES!!! My collection has – and I’m not kidding – 3 different heights) Sadly, I have to keep it this way, because I simply cannot buy books multiple times for them to match, because moneyyyy.

📚 I never take notes while reading. I know that it would be very useful for writing my Review later, but it feels too much like school for me, where I was forced to take super detailed notes for tests that would demand us to remember every single thing that happened. This experience left me with associating notes with work and I want to have a good reading experience, not feel like I’m doing assigned reading. How school reading has scarred me. However, I write my Reviews as soon as I finish the book, or take a few short notes so I can remember what I want to say! I also want to try out putting colored tabs into my books to highlight important scenes so I can find them more easily 🙂

When Was the Last Time You Cried During a Book?

📚 Surprisingly I haven’t cried that much this year yet. I’m not a huge book crier but I do get very emotional reading books and shedding tears frequently. However, so far this year I haven’t had a huge cry, which came as a bit of a surprise to me. But there were 2 books that came very close and made me tear up! The first is Sightwitch (which you should totally get, it’s amazing!), because towards the end things got so emotional and heart wrenching for the main character, so I couldn’t help but suffer with her 😢 Turtles all the way down definitely moved me close to tears as well, because it deals with some serious topics and I felt bad for a lot of the characters, as things were damn unfair at times 😮

How Many Books Are on Your Bedside Table?

📚 Normally 1 book. Naturally this book is my current read and as I read in the evenings it ends up lying somewhere close to my bed! When I’m at university I have a bed with a shelf at the headrest which is perfect for putting books on it. Therefore, you could say that my current read watches over me when I sleep like a guardian angel! Right now there are 6 books beside my bedside table, because I brought too many home and have run out of shelf space (seriously my one bookshelf is packed and I’m glad that I have my bookshelves at my other flat as otherwise I would have a serious problem) 😀

What’s Your Favorite Snack to Eat While You Are Reading?

📚 Something salty. I’m not a huge snack reader, as I tend to stick to hot drinks (it’s a miracle I haven’t yet spilled something on my books), but occasionally I do grab a reading snack! I always crave something salty, mostly pretzels, because they’re yummy and easy to eat when you’re immersed in your book! But at the end of the day, I do prefer to just sip tea or coffee while reading my book!

📚 My Harry Potter Shelf at my university flat. I have two Harry Potter shelves actually, one at home with the German editions that I originally read and this one that I recently assembled. I have only read book 1 and 2 in English so with the help of a lovely friend and used book sales I got the books in English and have yet to reread them in their original language! I do like this shelf because I actually have merch for it (I wish I had lots of funko pops and decorations like I’ve seen on other shelves), so it looks quite good! I have to admit that the pictures I took isn’t the best but my bookstagram skills are below zero 😅

  1. Oh. My. GOD. I have always always ALWAYS wanted a window seat and I would always beg my parents to let me have one but our house structure doesn‘t allow it haha (laughing through the pain) 😅

And I totally get what you mean about taking notes while reading! I only ever take notes when it‘s an ARC or a review copy where I KNOW that I‘ll have to write a review! It helps me remember major things that I can mention in my review. But even then the notes are never longer than one page in my journal and they‘re really short because I agree that it takes away from the reading experience and makes it feel like school!

And it sucks that you‘re not an audiobook person! I‘m always so stunned when people say that audiobooks aren‘t the right format for them! I used to think the same thing and then I tried one and now I can‘t imagine my life without them! A lot of the time I‘m just so exhausted or not in the mood to concentrate and focus my eyes on something so I just like to lie down with my eyes closed and listen to an audiobook! I love the whole concept of being able to read a book with your eyes closed 😂😂😂

    1. IT’S MY GREATEST DREAM 😱 our house structure would not allow it either, so we can suffer together 😭 But my reading nook NEEDS to happen sometime in the future!

Ahh it’s so great that sometime gets this, makes me feel less alone with this 😄 I always try to write or at least outline my Reviews (especially if it’s an ARC) as soon as I finish the book if I can manage to do that! I just want my reading experience to be good and then I can get into the hard work 😄

I know, I’ve heard so much gush about audiobooks but I cannot really get into them 😢 Oh that’s so great to hear! I definitely think that audiobooks are so useful, especially if you’re stressed, so I still want to give them a try in different situations 😀 That’s certainly cool 😂

  2. Yay I’m so glad you did this tag 😀
The window seat is the ultimate bookworm dream, really, I would love to have a little reading nook like that, filled with comfy pillows and everything, now THAT IS THE DREAM ❤
I didn't cry while reading Turtles, but it did made me highly emotional for sure, that book was INTENSE haha.
I didn't use to take notes while I read, either, but… sometimes now, I do try, whenever I'm taking a break from reading, or/and to remember some particular things or moments that jumped out for me on the pages. Sometimes I'm lazy to do so, though, haha, it also reminds me of school a little bit…. but it's important, because otherwise I just can't remember A THING about the book and I hate myself when the review-writing time comes 😛
    And pretzels, LOVE THEM ❤

    1. Me too, it was a lot of fun 😀

IT REALLY IS THE DREAM 😍 I’m so jealous of the people that actually have a window seat, because I want one sooo badly 😮

When I’m really worked up about a book and have a lot of thoughts I will take notes inbetween reading so sure, to get my feelings out 😀 Notes are definitely helpful for the review-writing, because we bookworms can be forgetful creatures 😂

      PRETZELS ARE THE BEST ♥

  3. I am really not an audiobook person myself!! I just prefer my own voice in my head when reading xD
That Harry Potter shelf is great though, I looooove it! 😀

  4. Thanks so much for the tag Caro. I’ve never seen this one before but I can’t wait to answer the questions because they seem like so much fun!
I love reading your answers as well. Your perfect reading spot would be mine as well, and oh I would definitely recommend My Lady Jane to everyone too. I haven’t seen many negative reviews for it and it kind of has something for everyone (plus it’s funny and who doesn’t love funny books). Also my favourite bookshelf is my Harry Potter one, so snap! 😀
Thanks again for the tag, and great post as well. 🙂 ❤

    1. You’re welcome, I’m definitely excited to see your answers! 🙂
My Lady Jane is the best, I’m so glad that I picked it up so soon 😍 Harry Potter shelves generally are the best and I have a lot more merch for decoration! 😀
      Thank you! ♥

  5. Ahh, this is such a great tag. Those reading spot pictures are STUNNING. And yess, I absolutely adore pretzels too! I don’t take notes while reading either, so I’m glad someone else is in the same boat, haha. I can’t wait to read Sightwitch (though I still have to read Truthwitch first)!

  6. Oh this tag looks so fun!! Yes I also share the desire for a bay window!! It would be so cool during the winter time, and it starts snowing (as long as there heating because I can’t stand the cold, lol). I also can’t stand audio-books because I zone them out real quickly, and end up paying attention at the last minute. Anyways, great post!!

  7. Ah, Caro, I LOVE your answers to this!! I have always ALWAYS wanted a window seat, ever since I was young really, and now that I’ve really grown as a reader, I want it even more. 😂 Wherever I live now, it has to have a window seat!

And aahh I actually really do not cover changes? Especially mid-series. And while I love love love when covers are changed to have models of color, I think it’s really important to ask the question why those models weren’t there in the first place. And omg I never really take notes either while reading? It would be super helpful tho, since I somehow end up writing reviews months later after I read the book 😂 I do write a few notes after finishing (tho I often forget) and I also highlight a few things on ebooks, but that’s pretty much it!

    Great post, Caro! ❤

    1. Thank you!! ♥ I’ll never stop wanting a window seat, it has been my dream for years and it has to happen at some point for the aestethic 😀

That’s definitely a question that came up among the Flame in the Mist cover change, because to a lot of people it felt like diverse books have to sell well first before they get a cover with a PoC model and that’s still a huge problem 😦 Omg, I now hear of more and more people that don’t take notes 😀 I felt like I was the only one, but now I’m glad that I have company 😂 It would indeed be helpful, but I cannot bring myself to do it. That’s at least something 😀

      Thank you 💕

  8. I don’t make any notes while reading either which sometimes does not work out well! Haha. I’ll have to check out rebel seoul as I’ve never heard of it before.

  9. Your reading spost is perfect and dreamy! I would love to have something like it. I do not really cry that often for books but when I cry, I CRY. I may get emotional on other levels but I try to contain myself. Even if I get that I lost half of the reasons why books are read: to wreack our souls.
I try to put one book beside me too. In the past I managed to read more than one, but right now it’s not working
