I Heart Characters // Swoonworthy Fae Love Interests

fae LI

Hello fellow bookworms 💗 This Friday I decided to participate in Dani’s new character meme, because it sounds like such a cool idea and I loved the prompt for this week which is Fairy Love Interests. If you click at the fanart I included you are led to the artist and their webpage! I’ve also included my Reviews for the books my two chosen characters are from!

I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by DaniPerspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger love for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love. 💗

Rhysand (A Court of Thorns and Roses)

Review of A Court of Thorns and Roses

(I have not yet reviewed ACOMAF … someone motivate me)

“Everything I love has always had a tendency to be taken from me. I tell very few about the wings. Or the flying.”

Rhysand is the High Lord of the Night Court and immediately came to my mind when I read the prompt, so it was obvious that I had to choose him. I couldn’t help liking him and finding him intriguing from the very beginning, even though he doesn’t appear a lot in ACTOAR (a shame really), and did some sketchy, dubious things (which are explained in book 2, but still). I knew he would become my favorite character anyways, because I generally like sassy, witty characters and Rhys was no exception. Book 2 catapulted my love for him into the sky … for obvious reasons that you know if you have read ACOMAF. Let me just say that Rhys is really caring and honestly I would want him as a friend. He’s also really complex and has a lot of different layers to him that we saw in book 2, something I absolutely adored! You simply cannot help but love him for how he treats Feyre and those closes to him ♥ Of course the fact that he’s a bit cocky and sarcastic stands, but you know I love characters like that so Rhys immediately became a new favorite character for me!

“He thinks he’ll be remembered as the villain in the story. But I forgot to tell him that the villain is usually the person who locks up the maiden and throws away the key. He was the one who let me out.”

Rook (An Enchantment of Ravens)

Review of An Enchantment of Ravens

“Isobel. Isobel, listen. The teapot is of no consequence. I can defeat anyone, at any time.”

Rook a fairy prince and completely oblivious to human emotions, which made him such a fun character to read about, as he’s so clueless sometimes! I could not help but love him, because he was so different from the other fairies, while still sharing some characteristics with him. Rook definitely is vain, cocky and a bit arrogant sometimes like the fae usually are, but I never hated him for that, because he’s got a good heart unlike most of his kind. He’s also got a background history, which explains why he’s more prone to human emotion. I just love him so much, the guy just wants to be a bit more human, but cannot show weakness because that’s dangerous in the power oriented world he lives him :/He’s always concerned for Isobel and aaah someone hug him ♥ He’s got such a complex personality and I loved him as a love interest, he was exactly right for Isobel!

“[Are you in love with me?] Is that so terrible? You say it as though it’s the most awful thing you can imagine. It isn’t as though I’ve done it on purpose. Somehow I’ve even grown fond of your – your irritating questions, and your short legs, and your accidental attempts to kill me.”

  1. RHYSAND! I totally want to have chose him but I need to read ACOMAF so yeah I couldn’t have talked about him competently. I LOVE the art you found too Caro, so good. But I think you really made me excited to pick up ACOMAF (so if you want to write a review to convince me more I would not need arm twisting to read it!)

But I’m really excited that you also chose a lesser known fairy in Rook!! I heard negative things about An Enchantment of Ravens but I think maybe I was listening to the wrong bloggers?! Because Rook sounds like just the sort of love interest that I love to root for. Going on my tbr! 😀

    1. YEES! Oh my god you totally need to read ACOMAF, it’s amazing and miles better than the first book, one of the best sequels I have ever read! aaan *whispers* there is a lot of Rhys so 💗 💗 💗 I really need to write my Review, but I have SO many emotions!
ROOK IS AMAZING! Oh I’m so glad you added it to your TBR! 💗 The Reviews are certainly mixed, but for me An Enchantment of Ravens worked really well, because I love swoon worthy romance and fairies!

  2. Irial from the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr, and Ash/Puck from The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa! I love books about the fae, but those are my two favorites!

I read An Enchantment of Ravens, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea. I felt like they spent a lot of time in her house (with her painting), or walking through the woods. There wasn’t a lot of variety to their setting, and then I thought the story was a little predictable (mostly the end and the situation with the spring king (cannot remember his name)). I did find Rook appealing, but was confused by his status. He was supposedly a super powerful king, right? Why didn’t we ever really see a great show of strength? He was overpowered easily and never really seemed king-like. Those were my issues! Lol! I’m really happy you ended up enjoying the book. I love how we can all find something different within the same story. 🙂

    1. omg ASH!! It has been aaages since I read the first book of the Iron Fey Series and I need to continue, because I remember loving him back when I read the book 😍

I know a lot of people have mixed opinions on An Enchantment of Ravens, which shows how much opinions can differ. I did have a feeling I would be among the people to like the book and voila, I ended up loving it 😀
