Hello fellow bookworms 💗 This Wednesday I’m once again going to participate in Dani’s new character meme, because I loved the prompt for this week which is Man you want next door – A male character you wouldn’t mind as a neighbor. I sadly couldn’t participate the last few weeks as I was super busy and didn’t have a specific character in mind for the prompts but this week inspiration has hit me again!
I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger love for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love. 💗
Luke (Under Rose-Tainted Skies)
Review of Under Rose-Tainted Skies
(why is there absolutely no fanart for this glorious book???)
“You’re brave, did you know that?’
He must have me mistaken for someone else. ‘You have all these fears, your body endures all this pain and heartache, but you keep going. I think that’s really brave.’
I shake my head. My mind is telling me that he’s wrong. Brave is swords and shields. People who are fearless in the face of adversity. Warriors for social justice. Brave is not me. But my heart registers the way he’s looking at me now, and my shoulders straighten. I feel shiny, normal.”
Luke is the love interest and next door neighbor of the MC Norah, who has agoraphobia and OCD. He just moved to her neighborhood and honestly he’s the sweetest more adorable, nerdy boy – I immediately loved him! I am all here for soft boys, stop it with the possessive alpha males!!! I really loved, loved, loved him so so much, I can’t even express how much I love Luke. He was so considerate, honest and kind, but also realistic since he kept messing up. Luke is always trying to understand Norah and he makes an effort to get to know her when many have given up. He tries to fit in at his new school and is quite popular, but at the same time he is a down to earth guy that never gets arrogant and always comes back to Norah. He never forgets her and finds ways to communicate with her (the letters) to try to get her attention. He had a rich background and felt like a complex character. Luke is the kind of friend everyone wish they had and that’s why I WOULD LOVE to have him as my neighbor.
“Hi.’ I’m a little out of breath when I [Norah] answer the door. Worse when I’m done soaking up his smile.
‘You like vanilla ice cream, right?’ he says, holding up a brown paper bag. ‘Not the vanilla pod stuff. I remembered that thing you said about not liking black bits in your food. Assumed you were being literal.’ See. He does understand.
‘Aww,’ Mom coos from inside the mouth of the couch.”
What male character would you love as a neighbor? Please tell me in the comments! 💗

Ohh, this seems like such an interested weekly feature, and I loved your response for the prompt Caro. There are so many characters I think it would be interesting to live next door to, both in a good way and a bad way because a lot of my favourite characters are from fantasy books and some of the things they get involved in would make for a very tense neighbourhood. 🙂
I haven’t read Under Rose Tainted Skies but I’ve heard good things about it, and Luke seems like a great character too.
Great post. 😀 ❤

I’ve been wanting to read Under Rose Tainted Skies all year… I haven’t gotten to it yet but now I really want to read it soon. I know we must always get on our own feet by ourselves but I just love when a boy helps help and gives us hope that the world will accept us!! Great pick Caro. ❤️ I’m so excited you participated! Yieeeeeee!
