Dewey’s 24 Hour Summer Readathon

Kopie von SC TBR August

Hello fellow bookworms 📚 There is exciting news for me: there is going to be another Dewey’s 24 Hours Readathon in Summer like last year! Normally it takes place twice a year and would have the second round in October, but the hosts decided to do a reverse Readathon on August 2nd to August 3rd.  I couldn’t participate in April because I was on vacation, so I’m very excited that there is another extra round this year as well 💗 You can find any information here on their website!

The Reverse Readathon means that instead of starting reading on 8am EST, reading starts on 8pm EST instead! The Dewey’s always have all people start at the exact same time, so you should head over here to find the start time for your time zone! For me the Readathon goes from August 3rd 2am to August 4th 2am (CEST), which means that I won’t start right as the Readathon begins (because late and I need sleep), but I will aim to get up at 9am and then read until 2 am! I’M SO EXCITED!

Let the reading begin 📚

What I’ll be reading 💗

Processed with MOLDIV

  1. Wires and Nerves Vol 1 (Marissa Meyer) 📚 238 pages
  2. On the Come Up (Angie Thomas) 📚 447 pages
  3. The Blood of Olympus (Rick Riordan) 📚 516 pages

I’ve set myself a pretty ambitious TBR, but one book being a graphic novel, I definitely think that it’s manageable 😄 I’m so happy that my friend Sandra sent me Wires and Nerves, because it’s the perfect book to read during a 24 Hour Readathon! Not only is it set in the Lunar Chronicles world (and I really need some new content, it has been a while since I read the books), it’s a graphic novel/companion about Iko and that’s really cool 👍 I think I’ll be able to finish this more quickly, so it will likely be my first read for the Readathon. Additionally, I have picked out two books to read afterwards and I think I’ll definitely get to On the Come Up. My friend Sandra has been reading and flying through it, so that got me motivated to finally read my own copy. It has been on my shelves for about 3 months now (it was a birthday gift) and the Readathon offers the perfect opportunity to finally pick it up 💕 The last possible read for the day will be The Blood of Olympus, because I have been really in the mood to read some more Rick Riordan, as it isn’t quite time for book 4 in the Trials of Apollo Series yet 😭 I also need to finish off this Series, it has been way too long!

This section will be updated during/after the Readathon! 💕

Hour 1 💖

1. What fine part of the world are you reading from today? And what time is it where you are? I’m from Germany and the Readathon would have started at 2am for me, but I went to bed beforehand, so I wasn’t awake for the actual Start 😄

2. Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? That’s actually very hard, but I really want to get to Wires and Nerve as my first read, so I’m so ready to get back into the Lunar Chronicles world 😍

3. Which snack are you most looking forward to? Definitely the hot chocolate that I have been wanting to try out for a while now! Oh and COFFEE, lots of coffee ☕❤

4. Do you have a #reversereadathon plan of attack? Kind of. I know what I want to read and in what order, plus I’ve got some snacks that I want to eat, but other than that I’ll do what I feel like 📚

5. Are you doing the readathon solo or with others? With the bookish community you’re never alone, especially not on Twitter, so I hope to see a lot of other people participating on my feed! 💕

  • The Readathon started at 2am for me so I wasn’t awake for the start … and still slept till 10 because I was so tired for some reason 😂 I‘ve just gotten coffee & I‘m ready to tackle my first read: Wires and Nerve, a graphic novel that I have been wanting to read for ages! It didn’t take me long to read this, but it was so much fun, I really liked being back in the Lunar Chronicles world 😍
  • I ended up giving my first book 4.5 Stars because it was good, but not quite on par with my love for the Lunar Chronicles books ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pages so far: 237 📚

  • Back from having lunch & now it‘s time to dive into my second book for the Readathon! This wasn’t on my TBR but it‘s calling to me and as it’s a library book I also need to return it soon, so now was the perfect time to read Challenger Deep. I have been eyeing it for a while now 😄

Hours 12-15 💖

  • Only 100 pages left in my book, but I’m taking a break to drink some coffee & hot chocolate. (Spoiler: the hot chocolate was really good) My book is interesting but a bit weird so far, so I’m still trying to grasp the narrative 😱
  • Second book finished!! I liked reading Challenger Deep and appreciated the narrative, it just wasn’t for me personally – would still recommend it though. I settled in 3.5 Stars, because it was a well-written story but didn’t particularly grip me. ⭐⭐⭐

  • Getting started on my next read because my friend Sandra has been talking about it so highly! I’ve had On the Come Up on my shelves ever since I got it for my birthday, but I’m glad that I’m finally so excite to pick it up 😍

  1. That was a really neat way to participate Caro!! I love the questions and your running monologue!! I will be back to see how you enjoyed On the Come Up!! I’m glad you enjoyed Wires and Nerves. I haven’t quite finished the Lunar series as I still need to read Winter… but I want to read this right after. ❤️
