The Fall Bucket List Book Tag 🎃🍂

Hello fellow bookworms 🍂 Time for another cool fall themed Tag! When I saw that Tiffany @ readbytiffany had created the Fall Bucket List Book Tag I knew that I had to do it because fall is my second favorite season (directly after winter) 🎃🍂 I always make my own bucket list with things I want to do in the colder season because I love immersing myself in the atmosphere and get the most out of it despite everything else going on in my life! I personally thrive in the autumn and winter so it’s always a welcome time for me that makes me feel at my most cozy and creative 🥰 Definitely head over to Tiffany’s blog, it has such a positive vibe and she’s a lovely, friendly blogger you should check out! 😊 She also created the lovely graphics for the Tag that I will be using in my post as well!

The Selection (Kiera Cass) 🍂 I feel like I haven’t talked much about these books at all, but I love the original The Selection Trilogy – it has always been so much fun to read as these are books that you can get through in a day. They are fast-paced, great comfort reads and you’ll just fly through them! There’s lots of romantic and otherwise drama, but in an entertaining way that personally appealed to me. So while they’ve got some flaws, I’ve got a soft spot for these books as they got me through a more difficult time when I needed something light to distract me! I didn’t like the two spinoff books dealing with the next generation though, as I hated the main character and the books somehow had lost their special vibe – that’s why I’d recommend only reading the original books 💕

The Cruel Prince (Holly Black) 🍂 There are quite a lot of hyped books, but I remember the Cruel Prince hype so vividly that I went with the book, especially as I’ve also read it! Back in the beginning of 2018 everyone was getting so obsessed with the dark fairy book, it was all over my Goodreads Timeline, on the blogs and Twitter – I have to admit it was a bit addictive seeing everyone hype up a book so much 😊 In the end, I only read The Cruel Prince in December after the hype had died down a bit and a few more mixed Reviews had come in. I liked it fine (my rating is 3.5 stars) but I wasn’t quite with the hype as the book didn’t manage to completely grip me like it had done with a lot of the bookish community. I actually much prefer Holly Black’s backlist Curseworker Trilogy that I read at the beginning of this year as it’s also dark and convinced me a lot more! So hidden recommendation time: check out White Cat, especially if you’ve loved the Cruel Prince – no fairies but other cool things 🥰

Born at Midnight (C.C. Hunter) 🍂  I LOVE books that focus on friendship dynamics without being overpowered by romantic ones so much! I love my ships, but friendships are so important too and shouldn’t be pushed into the background. I had some options, but as it’s nostalgia time in this post (4/6 books mentioned were read pre 2016) I went with Kylie, Miranda, and Della from the Shadow Falls books! I love me a girl power trio that gets great interactions even among the prominent love triangle! The girls have such a fun friendship despite being so different and often also bickering as well as having some ups and downs. Their love for each other was hard-won as Kylie is initially hell-bent on escaping the camp they are all attending and sometimes they don’t agree with each other, but it makes their friendship all the more realistic! I also love the friendship between Kylie and the slightly older camp counselor Holiday, as they have regular sessions and are like sisters 🥰

Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead) 🍂 I have been hit with all the Vampire Academy nostalgia as of late, so I had to talk about it some more here! I purchased all the books in English recently as I want to do a reread soon and originally read them in Germany way before my blogging days. This is one of my favorite series that I read in High School which is why it has such a special place in my heart 💕 I vividly remember reading the books and loving them because my bookish friend in school was also reading them, those were the good times! I definitely don’t remember much though and a reread is much needed. However, I remember loving Lissa and Rose’s friendship so much, it’s still one of my all-time favorite dynamics because they are so close but also later on in the series confront some of the underlying issues that exist too! I also need to read the spinoff that is now out in its entirety too 😂

Sally Jackson (Percy Jackson Series) 🍂 This was so hard because somehow I don’t read as many books with characters that love to cook? How? I need more food fiction in my life apparently  😄 I could have gone with Lara Jean from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before because she’s an avid baker (and I’m better at baking than cooking myself), but then I remembered Sally Jackson!! Not only is she an amazing mom, who got her happy ending after getting rid of her abusive ex-boyfriend – she is also a fantastic cook! An inside joke in the books is her making blue food for the main character and that alone is pretty awesome 💙 In The Hidden Oracle she makes her famous seven-layer dip, sandwiches, and lemonade for Apollo and his companion Meg: the descriptions alone made me crave some dip and sandwiches made by Mum Jackson and I’d love to eat some of her cooking!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Shaffer, Barrows) 🍂 It was hard to pick out a book that made me happy at first because I didn’t want to talk about Carry On or Fangirl again as I’ve already done that so much. That’s why I choose a book that I haven’t mentioned often yet, but that’s still amazing and surprised me with its humor despite the theme! The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (that is one long title) was a bit out of my comfort zone at first as it’s an adult book but I ended up loving it!! The protagonist Juliet was amazing and had such a great personality: she is a dedicated bookworm as well as an author and has a great sense of humor! I loved seeing an adult book have a witty and at times sarcastic protagonist because it made me love reading the story 🥰 The book is told through letters, so that’s another cool thing about this book!
