Hello fellow bookworms π It’s time for another Readathon TBR post ~ which is one of my favorite types of post to wite! I haven’t done one since April as I didn’t join any official Readathons in May but this June the GraphicsAthon is happening! I joined the previous round of this Readathon back in January and it was SO much fun that I was excited to see it return for a fourth Round β€ I have been reading more graphic novels in the past years and they can be helpful to change up my reading habits, so I highly recommend the GraphicsAThon if you love graphic novels or want to try them out for the first time π₯° I first saw the announcement of the Readathon on Ellyn’s blog ~ one of the cohosts of the Readathon ~ and it totally made my week! Let’s get into what the Readathon is about, the prompts and lastly my TBR plans! π
Me excited to read more graphics again π
Information
The GraphicsAthon is a Readathon dedicated to reading graphics, meaning anything with mainly illustrations e.g. graphic novels, comics, webcomics (It’s also okay to listen to the graphics on audiobook if that’s a format you like). It’s a week-long event and the fourth round is taking place from June 21, 2021 12:00 AM (your time zone) to June 27, 2021 11:59 PM! π₯° I’ve taken the list of hosts and prompts (as well as the bingo card) from the hosts announcement posts!

My GraphicsAThon TBR
My TBR this time is pretty ambitious, as there were so many great books to choose and I wanted to have at least fill out the bingo board with my options! In total I choose 7 Books for my TBR but I likely won’t get to all of them. Nevertheless, I love having so many options to choose from, so I will always find something to fit my mood β€ The Readathon only runs one week, but I can read graphic novels really fast, so I feel confident about my options π
- The Tea Dragon Festival (Kay O’Neill) β½ 5-Star Prediction
- Princess Ever After (Kay O’Neill) β½ Backlist, Host Rec (Rebecca’s Top 9)
- The Girl from the Other Side Vol 4. (Nagabe) β½ Continue a Series, Non UK/US Author
- Monstress Vol 2. (Marjorie Liu) β½ Written By A BIPOC author
These are all the books from authors that I’m familiar with, as I couldn’t pass up the chance to continue series/read more by authors I like π On the top of my list are The Tea Dragon Festival (Tea Dragon book #2 that I didn’t get to, despite having read books 1 and 3. I really want to finish this series!) and Princess Ever After (this has queer rep and looks great!) by Kay O’Neill who has such a wholesome and lovely art style that always makes me feel cozy inside. I cannot wait to read more by them! π₯° I also want to continue The Girl from the Other Side, a manga that I discovered in the first round of the GraphicsAthon! It’s amazing and I’m on volume 4, though my library sadly doesn’t have the entire series! Lastly, I want to give Monstress another chance. I had mixed feelings about the first volume, as the worldbuilding was interesting but not introduced in an accessible and easily understandable way. I hope the next volume will clear things up though! π
- Locke & Key Vol 1. (Joe Hill) β½ An Adaption, New to me Author
- Spy x Family, Vol. 1 (Tatsuya Endo) β½ 2020 Release, OOCZs
- On a Sunbeam (Tillie Walden) β½ Different Format, Rainbow
Next up are books by new-to-me authors that I have been wanting to read for a while! I watched the Locke & Key Netflix adaption, which got me interested to check out the first Locke & Key volume, as the world is intriguing and unique! The art style sadly isn’t my cup of tea, yet I still want to give at least the first book a chance. Next up is Spy x Family, a manga I saw recommended by 24hryabookblog and which appealed to me a lot as it seems to have assassins, fake marriage and maybe some found family? π₯° Lastly is a book I’ll only read if I’m finished with everything else as it’s 500 pages long π I heard great things about Tillie Walden and On a Sunbeam & I choose it for the different format prompt. I usually borrow my graphic novels from Overdrive, but On a Sunbeam is also available as a webcomic for free π
Are you participating in GraphicsAThon? Have you read any books on my TBR? Any recommendations for graphic novels? π
I haven’t read any graphic novels before but it’s 100% something I want to try! Have seen soo many positive reviews of the Heartstopper books though so I think I’ll start with that!

I adore graphic novels! I started reading them maybe 2 years ago and absolutely fell in love with them last year. I’m surprised you haven’t read the second book in The Tea Dragon Society! I love that series so much and can’t wait to read the last book!
Good luck with your tbr!

I have also been growing to love graphic novels these past few years β€ I somehow have read the Tea Dragon books 1 and 3, but not the second one, so I need to change that π
Thank you! π₯°
