Hello fellow bookworms ☀ The first half of the year is already over 😱 There were at least some sunny days, but apart from that summer hasn’t really arrived here. I never thought I’d say it but I’ve been loving the warmer weather as it opens up more opportunities to go outside and do something, which is a nice change of scenery 🥰 Sadly, I have to start studying for my exams in July, so I’ll be going on HIATUS until the beginning of August. I have one post per week planned to go up and I’ll try to do some blog hopping, but I’ll probably be a lot slower with interacting 😔

I read 18 books in June which was a lot more than I anticipated 😱 9 books were graphic novels though, as I participated in the GraphicsAThon again this month and it was so much fun!! It’s nice to switch up things and turn to graphic novels, as I find them easier to read and very comforting 🥰 I also managed to read a lot of books for Pride Month and I discovered many great new books! 🌈 I even read 3 owned books (Heartstopper Vol 4., Let’s Talk About Love & The Downstairs Girl), which is something I want to improve as the year goes on, since I still get the majority of my books from the library. I’m happy with that, but I really need to get some of my owned books read (be it physical or digital), so they don’t gather dust on my shelves (or my Kindle). I’m also very behind on most reviews (that aren’t graphic novels, Arcs or new favorites), but I’ll probably only get around to writing them after my exams 😅
I read 5 books out of my comfort zone this month, which is the most I’ve read within a month so far! I read a multitude of genres in June as well. I loved The Dead and the Dark (YA Mystery), All Boys Aren’t Blue (YA Memoir/Manifesto) and On a Sunbeam (YA Sci-Fi Graphic Novel)! 🥰 I sadly wasn’t a big fan of Honey Girl (New Adult Romance) and The Downstairs Girl (YA Historical Fiction) though.

Things are still busy but there were at least some sunny days. Luckily the cases began dropping here (they were SO high in April/May) and with the weather improving I could finally go to the city again with some Uni friends 🏖 (I had ice cream, we walked along the river and I even had a picnic!!!) I really needed some sunshine and as I’m allowed to use the garden, I sat outside some afternoons, which was also nice! University still kept me busy with many projects and lectures all vying for my attention. For some reason this semester feels a lot busier than the last one 😴 But there’s good news: I finally got my first vaccine shot!!! 🎉 They opened the vaccine for everyone at the beginning of June and I was fortunate enough to get an appointment already because someone had canceled last minute! I’m very grateful for that and my family is going to be fully vaccinated soon, which is a massive relief! I also took a spontaneous trip home at the end of June ❤ It was my last chance before exam season and none of my friends were here, so I used the weekend to catch up with my family!
Things that made me happy 😊
➽ Shows I Watched in June ❤ As we get closer to exam season, I generally watch less shows, but this month I finished the second season of Ragnorak with my friend and we also started watching Sweet Tooth (which is already a lot of fun)! I also finally finished the second season of Hilda, so now I have to pick out something else to watch on the side 😄
➽ Participating in the GraphicsAThon!! I was looking forward to this Readathon weeks in advance, as I love reading graphic novels and my digital library has so many for me to try out, which is so nice! I can’t believe I used to barely read any graphic novels, but good access has definitely boosted my reading. It’s always nice to mix things up and read something very visual 🥰
➽ Witchshadow Release Date! In case you don’t know, the Witchlands series is one of my all-time favorite series and we sadly didn’t get a new book in 2020. This year however the next book – Witchshadow – finally came out!! I preordered it and it actually came on release date!! (which is unusual, as shipping takes a couple days longer and getting English books during the pandemic has involved lots of waiting at times) In any case, I’m very excited!! ❤ Sadly I have to start studying now, so I might save this book for when I’m not in constant stress 😅
I used this book to finally make a new profile picture 😄
July sadly means exam season 📚 As I already said, I’ll sadly be very busy next month with the upcoming exams and assignments 😔 I’m not really ready to enter exam season again (it felt like I just did it), but this time I’ll only take 2 exams in July/August and push the third one to October, as I wouldn’t be able to do it otherwise. Nevertheless, I’ll try to enjoy the summer a bit (though I wish it would be nicer outside, it has been unsetteled and rainy a lot lately) ☀ I also have some great reads coming up in July and I hope to read some ‘summer books’ over the next two months, that I feel would be perfect for the season 🥰
Priority Books for July ⛅
- Bloodlines (Richelle Mead) 📚 St. Vladimir’s Readalong
- Of Princes and Promises (Sandhya Menon) ⌛
- Fugitive Telemetry (Martha Wells) 🎧
What were you up to in June? What was your favorite book? Any books you plan on reading this summer? I hope you’re staying safe! ❤
Good luck with your exams!

So glad you had a good reading month despite uni being busy. 😀 I’m kind of disappointed The Downstairs Girl didn’t wow you, because I’m planning on reading that soon. (Not that that means that I will actually get to it… I’ve been planning on reading it for months, lol.) I hope your exam season will go well, and don’t worry about not interacting / blog-hopping!! God knows I’ve been awful at it, even though I’m now done with uni. 😅 I’m trying to get more into blog-hopping now though. 🙂

June was a surprisingly good reading month given everything that was going on 😄 I hope you still enjoy The Downstairs Girl, especially in the end it got so good!! My exams are finally done and I’m only now catching up with everything 😅 I feel you, sometimes it’s just hard!

If you ever want to talk about which shows you might want to watch on the side, you know where to find me (DMs on Twitter are probably easiest) – I got all the recs haha
Also, thank you so, so much for sharing my posts again. Especially the Tom Hiddleston one, cause that was a crazy amount of work and it feels validating to see people enjoy it!! ❤

Oh yes!! I sadly have been super slow with watching shows this year compared to 2020 though – I cannot keep up with all the new Netflix content 😅 So happy to share your posts, especially as you put so much work into them! ❤

You had such a great reading month! Haha, come to Hungary them, we’re experiencing a heat wave, it’s been 30-38 Celsius degrees for weeks, it’s finally a little chillier today. 😅 Also, thank you for bringing attention to the horrible laws that are introduced in my country. 😔
I also read Heartstopper 4 this month, and I feel the same way about graphic novels! I’m so grateful to be able to borrow some from the library! I’m sorry you didn’t like Honey Girl, it didn’t blow me away either.
Thank you for mentioning my post!💕

June was really a great month for reading! Oh no, sorry to hear that you had such a big heat wave! I much prefer the more rainy weather to the heat! I’m happy to help in some way 🙏
Graphic Novels are truly such lifesavers and I’m happy to hear that you also read the fourth Heartstopper volume! Honey Girl on the other hand wasn’t as mindblowing as I was expecting 😅
Always happy to share your posts ❤

June was truly such a great reading month! 😊 I sadly didn’t like Honey Girl as much as everyone else (the writing was trying too hard to be beautiful and the characters fell a bit flat), but it was still a decent read!
Thank you!! My exams are finally done and I’m happy to have a break ❤
