#ReadFatPositive Round 2.0 TBR πŸ’—

RFP Round 2

Hello fellow bookworms πŸ’—Β It’s time for another Readathon TBR (I have really missed writing those)!! Now that my exams are mostly over I’m eager to finally participate in Readathons again and read to my heart’s content ❀ It’s just my luck that after my vacation the #ReadFatPositive Readathon is happening again – that was the perfect timing for me! πŸ₯° I don’t have any other Readathon to participate in this month so for now this post is all about the goal of the #ReadFatPositive Readathon and what books I have picked to be on my TBR!

Me getting ready to read all the books

The second round of the #ReadFatPositive Readathon is taking place from August 16th to 22nd! It is dedicated to reading books with fat main charactersΒ that have positive representation (no weight loss and instead body love and positivity) and it’s encouraged to pick books that are ownvoices ❀ The Readathon is hosted by Ali @ reveriewithali and this time around there is also a Twitter Account! I participated in the first round and it was great to finally read more books with fat representation, so I’m happy to see that the Readathon is returning 😊

My #ReadFatPositive TBR

➽ I have been meaning to read the Brown Sisters Trilogy for ages and finally get more into Talia Hibbert’s romance books! I even have the first two books on my Kindle TBR and I keep hearing good things about them! Get a Life, Chloe Brown has some of my buzzwords like hate-to-love, banter and opposites attract, so I’m eager to read it πŸ₯° The main character is a chronically ill, fat Black computer geek who sets out to ‘Get a Life’ and enlists the help of a hot ‘bad boy’ πŸ‘€ I have a feeling that I’ll have a good time with this book and I already know that it’s going to be my first read of the Readathon!

➽ I read Dumplin’ for the first round of #ReadFatPositive and I’m eager to make myself through the rest of the series (these are all companion books)! I’m glad to finally have started reading Julie Murphy’s books and though I didn’t like Dumplin’ as much as anticipated (it was still a solid 3-stars though!), I’m happy to give this book a shot. Puddin’ follows one of my fave characters of the first book – Millie – and I’m so happy that we get to read from her perspective 😊 Not too sure about the second POV yet (a popular mean girl), but I’m keeping my hopes up!

  • Miss Meteor (Tehlor Kay Mejia & Anna-Marie McLemore) πŸ’— Goodreads πŸ’— Storygraph πŸ’—

➽ This was on my last #ReadFatPositive TBR but sadly I didn’t get around to reading it back then! I was a bit disappointed that the Beauty Peagant aspect of Dumplin’ had such a small part in the book, so I’m hoping that here it will get more of the focus! Miss Meteor is about a beauty competition and unlikely participants Lita and Chicky, who used to be best friends and are now united in being the underdog! I have heard such good things about Miss Meteor and I love the premise a lot, so I hope I get around it reading it this time πŸ₯°

  • Fat Chance, Charlie Vega (Crystal Maldonado) 🎧 πŸ’— Goodreads πŸ’— Storygraph πŸ’—

➽ Initially, this book hadn’t been on my radar, but the premise immediately got me interested! Fat Chance, Charlie Vega is about a young fat Latina, who has a difficult relationship with her fatphobic mom and struggles with the feeling of being second choice. This sounds like an incredibly heartfelt coming of age story and I’m so glad that I added it to my TBR! I really hope that I can get around to reading it, but if not during this Readathon I’ll definitely read it sometime else 😊

Are you participating in the #ReadFatPositive Readathon? Have you read any of the books on my TBR? Any recommendations for books with fat protagonists? πŸ’—

  2. Ooh, you have three books on your list that I loved!! Get a Life, Chloe Brown is such an excellent romance novel – it didn’t disappoint at all, but then again, Talia Hibbert has never disappointed me before. πŸ˜€ You know how I felt about Puddin’ and Miss Meteor was another good one. Hope you’ll love all four books & good luck on the readathon!

    1. Thank you, Mel! I’m so excited for Puddin’ because it features one of my fave characters from Dumplin’! I’m also happy to hear that you liked Pumpkin, I have to read it in the next round πŸ₯° Did you like Eve’s book? I’m eager to finally get to the Brown Sisters books 😊

  4. i hope you do like miss meteor! i have never read dumplin’, so i can’t say how much the peagent competition takes up compared to the other book, but i’d say it’s a huge part of miss meteor! it also has a fun magical realism element that added more quirk and character to the story. oh, and the side characters are also fantastic!!!!
