Reading Diary: #ReadFatPositive Edition πŸ’—

Reading Diary RFP

Hello fellow bookworms πŸ’— I have always loved documenting my reading progress, especially for Readathons and on Booktube my favorite types of videos to watch are Reading Vlogs ❀ Therefore, I have decided to adapt the Reading Vlog content for my blog and start a little Reading Diary series (mostly for Readathons, as the rest of my progress is best saved for my wrapup posts)! I’m super excited about this idea and hope you’ll like it too πŸ₯° I decided to center my first Reading Diary around the #ReadFatPositive Readathon (which is hosted by Ali @ reverie with ali) which took place from August 16th to 22nd and is all about reading books with positive fat representation! I did a TBR post for #ReadFatPositive recently and there’s a Twitter Account with more information about the Readathon!

March 2021

Day 1 ~ 16.08.

Day 1

➽ I sadly had a rough start into the Readathon πŸ˜… I didn’t sleep well the previous night and I was in a bad mood so I barely began listening to my audiobook. BUT there were livesprints planned on YouTube from 8 to 10pm which saved the day (I’m generally more of an evening reader, so this was perfect)! I had so much fun reading together with the hosts and the other people who watched!! I got 50% through Here the Whole Time during the sprints, so it was a full success πŸ₯°

Day 2

➽ Once again I didn’t read as much as I wanted BUT I finished my first book! Here the Whole Time was such a fantastic book and in the end I couldn’t help but give it 5 stars! The writing style is funny & authentic, the characters are all so lovable and the romance is wholesome – I highly recommend it!! ❀ I didn’t get much farther into Puddin’, I listened a bit to the audiobook in the evening, but might switch to the e-book (that I also got from my library) because I’m sadly not vibing with the narrators!

Day 3

➽ I got much farther into Puddin’ today! The trick was simply to read the e-book but also listen to the audiobook alongside that, which made for an immersive experience and finally got me hooked on the story! I still enjoy one POV way more than the other though and wish Millie had been the sole narrator of the book πŸ˜… I also got started with Get a Life, Chloe Brown – which I read on my Kindle before going to bed! I already like the funny narration and the characters are intriguing so I’m excited to get farther into it!

Day 4

➽ I finally managed to finish Puddin’! πŸŽ‰ After getting more into the story, I switched to the audiobook again and even managed to listen on 2x speed! I liked Puddin’ but much preferred Millie’s POV to Callie’s to the point where I wish Millie had been the sole narrator of the book. Nevertheless, I liked it a bit more than Dumplin’ and thought that the focus on female friendships was amazing! I didn’t manage to continue reading Get a Life, Chloe Brown but I’ll definitely get some more reading in over the weekend πŸ₯°

Day 5

➽ I got much farther into Chloe Brown and I’m really liking the book! πŸ₯° I read Talia Hibbert’s Christmas novella – Wrapped Up in You – last year and didn’t like it, so it was a relief that this seemed to have been an outlier. Get a Life, Chloe Brown is definitely a lot better and I love the writing style – it’s funny and easy to read. I didn’t quite manage to finish the book today, but I had a great time making my way through it and I can already say that I’m looking forward to reading about the other Brown Sisters in the following books 😊

Day 6

➽ I had a pretty good reading day!! The weather was really nice, so I decided to sit outside on our porch and finish Get a Life, Chloe Brown! I was so close to the end already and ended up rating it 4 stars. I had a good time reading Chloe Brown’s story and think that the writing style made this such a quick and fun read! I also joined the Readathon live sprints again and got 50% into my last read – Miss Meteor. I’m intrigued so far, as the book isn’t how I imagined it would be, for example there is a slight magical realism element πŸ‘€

Day 6 (2)

➽ I finished my last book of the Readathon just in time and luckily ended up enjoying it! Miss Meteor turned out to be different than I was expecting, but I loved Lita so much and the cast of secondary characters was so well-developed and lovable! All in all, this week was a full reading success for me and I’m happy to say that I enjoyed all the books I read ❀ The only book from my TBR I didn’t get around to reading was Fat Chance, Charlie Vega ~ I choose to read Miss Meteor as my last book as this one had already been on my previous #ReadFatPositive TBR!

  1. I love the way you chronicled each day and I’m very happy to hear that you enjoyed the first book in the Brown Sisters series. I’ve not yet continued with the second book myself, but I liked the first one as well and really plan on reading the others as well.

  4. caro, i loved the format of this post so much! it was so fun following your day and also seeing the pictures you shared. i am glad you had a positive experience with all the books you read for the readathon. i desperately need to read here the whole time, it’s honestly a bit embarrassing i haven’t done yet! i hope more books by this author do get translated, as he always writes gay body-positive stories that i think would be amazing for an international audience too!
