Hello fellow bookworms ✨ The first semester of the Magical Readathon has finished and I’m once again returning with a Reading Diary! Since this event was month instead of week-long, I decided to document my progress weekly. If you want to know more about the Magical Readathon and see my original TBR I have linked my post down below 💕 A very short recap: this Readathon was all about attending a magical Academy and studying certain classes to achieve a Calling (magical job) 🥰
Overview + TBR
- Week 1 ~ 01.04. – 03.04.
- Week 2 ~ 04.04. – 10.04.
- Week 3 ~ 11.04. – 17.04.
- Week 4 ~ 18.04. – 24.04.
- Week 5 ~ 25.04. – 30.04.
- Wrapup
“The spring semester at Orilium had just started and Aliyah was looking forward to all her classes. The syllabus promised lots of interesting topics, especially for an aspiring Archmage. Aliyah was determined to prove herself a capable scholar, deciding to do extra classes alongside her requirements. When the call for a quest was made one evening, she couldn’t resist volunteering to save Sir Asparagus the 7th, a missing cat 😺. Was she loading too much on her plate? Maybe so, but the magical atmosphere of the Orilium Academy was contagious!”
Week 1 ~ 01.04. – 03.04.
➽ The first segment of the Readathon was just the weekend! Nevertheless, I read 3 books and started off strong 🥰 I’m not usually much on Discord – mostly, I find it daunting – but I did post a bit in the channels, which was fun. It’s great seeing everyone else in the community excited about the Readathon as well! I was even lucky enough to snatch a quest (the number of people that can claim it is limited; though there are now also unlimited quests!) and per the rules added an extra book to my TBR: To Be a Cat by Matt Haig 😺
💕 Classes Attended 💕
- Spy x Family Vol 7. (Tatsuya Endo) ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 ~ Psionics & Divination – Clairsentience (Book set in the future)
- I Must Betray You (Ruta Sepetys) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Artificery – Schematic Literacy (Earth setting)
- Silver in the Wood (Emily Tesh) ⭐⭐⭐ ~ Spells & Incantations – Anti Gravity Spell (Short story)
➽ 3 classes attended 📚
Week 2 ~ 04.04. – 10.04.
➽ The second week of the Readathon kicked off some TBR changes 😂 I can never stick to a TBR any longer, though I have only deviated a tiny bit. I’m now halfway done with the prompts for my Archmage Calling (only 3 books left) and hoping to work on two more books next week! I don’t want to lose sight of the priority books among all the other tempting choices 😅 I read books for two more extra classes and picked up Once Upon an Eid instead of one of my original choices! I also decided to do another quest (the first one is currently in progress), as the host has posted some unlimited ones that everyone can claim 🥰
💕 Classes Attended 💕
- Spy x Family Vol 8. (Tatsuya Endo) ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 ~ Art of Illusion – Mirror Image (Trope You Like)
- Once Upon an Eid (S.K. Ali) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Shapeshifting – Formation: claws (Creature with Claws on Cover)
- Golden Girl (Reem Faruqi) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Quest: Fire Weasel (New to You Author)
- Orphan Monster Spy (Matt Killeen) ⭐⭐⭐ ~ Astronomy – Asteroids & Comets (Top of your TBR)
➽ 4 classes attended 📚
Week 3 ~ 11.04. – 17.04.
➽ This the last week of my semester break, so I tried to make the most of it! Sadly the week also turned out to be very busy – with me not being home 2 days, my birthday & driving back for my internship – so my reading was somewhat stalled. I also stressed a bit about how much I would be able to read when my internship started … though trying to cram everything into the week before wasn’t the best idea 😂 I finished off some books from the previous week and I’m now 4/6 done with the books for my Calling which have the highest priority for me!
💕 Classes Attended 💕
- A Marvellous Light (Freya Marske) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Alchemy: Potion of Infatuation (Book with romance)
- The Map (William Ritter) 🔁 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Elemental Studies: Air Dynamics (Book under 100 pages)
- To Be a Cat (Matt Haig) ⭐⭐⭐ ~ Quest: Save Sir Asparagus (Cat on the cover)
➽ 3 classes attended 📚
Week 4 ~ 18.04. – 24.04.
➽ This was the first week of my internship, so I mostly relied on audiobooks! That was a great idea as I wasn’t as focused due to the information overload 😅 Everyone at my internship is nice but it was just a lot to take in all at once! Luckily, the Magical Allnighter (24 Hour Readathon that always happens within the month) happened on the weekend and I extended it to the entire weekend to get further ahead with my reading 💕 I still felt tired from the week and didn’t read as much as I usually do during these events, but I worked on the two books left for my calling. I finished Strange the Dreamer and got far into The Enigma Game, so the last week won’t be spent trying to catch up 😄 You can check out my reading thread on Twitter here:
💕 Classes Attended 💕
- Daisy Jones & the Six (Author) ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 ~ Animal Studies: Way of the Pegasus (Quick Read)
- Strange the Dreamer (Laini Taylor) ⭐⭐⭐.5 ~ Inscription: Glyph of Strength (Intimidating Read)
- The Song of Achilles (Madeline Miller) ⭐⭐ ~ Lore: Myths Most Known (Mythology Inspired)
➽ 3 classes attended 📚
Week 5 ~ 25.04. – 30.04.
➽ I left finishing my Calling to the last week 😅 Normally I’m done early with everything, but it was easy to get sidetracked with all the extra classes. I took it slowly, as I already had started my last “required” book during the weekend Readathon and was able to finish it in time! I also took one more extra class, because my library had the audiobook available and right now that’s a bit easier to read for me 😊 I finished all of the classes except one (Demonology) and I’m happy with that progress! I cannot wait for the next installment in August 💕
💕 Classes Attended 💕
- The Enigma Game (Elizabeth Wein) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Conjuration: of Light (Light on the Cover)
- Sick Kids in Love (Hannah Moskowitz) ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ Restoration: Cure Wounds (Featuring Healers)
➽ 2 classes attended 📚
Wrapup
💕 6 Classes Attended for Archmage Calling 💕
💕 7 Extra Classes Attended 💕
➽ 4582 pages studied in total 📚
Did you participate in the #magicalreadathon? What have you been reading recently? Any books you can recommend? ✨
Late birthday wishes, Caro! 🥳 I love how you managed to still read a bunch even though you started an internship as well. Hope it’s going great!
