Most Anticipated Releases of 2022 (July to November) πŸ’•

Anticipated 2

Hello fellow bookworms πŸ’• It’s time to talk about the 2022 Releases I’m excited for, again so here we areΒ πŸ₯° Like the previous years, this is part 2 covering the releases from July to November (I almost never include December, because so few books come out then πŸ˜‚) aka the second half of the year. I’m going to talk about the books in order of when they release! I have 17 books on this list and some honorary mentions as well πŸ’• August seems to be a fantastic month for new releases while October only has one book I’m anticipating πŸ˜…

Note:Β As always I tried to include the representation of the diverse books on my list, please let me know if I missed something or got something wrong! As always I’ve included a link to the Goodreads pages of the books in my post, just click the cover! 😊

July

Long Live the Pumpkin Queen (Shea Ernshaw) πŸ’• Publication: July 5th πŸ’– The Nightmare Before Christmas Retelling ➽ I love The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I was hyped that Shea Ernshaw is writing a book centered around Sally πŸ₯° I love how atmospheric and spooky Ernshaw’s books are, so I have high hopes that she’ll do a great job bringing Halloween Town to life πŸŽƒ

Long Story Short (Serena Kaylor) πŸ’• Publication: July 26th πŸ’– Social Anxiety πŸ’Œ YA Contemporary ➽ This honestly sounds like the perfect summer read! It’s about a statistical genius who was homeschooled all her life and needs to prove to her parents that she can survive university. She has to go to a Shakespeare summer camp for 6 weeks! β˜€οΈ

August

Husband Material (Alexis Hall) πŸ’• Publication: August 2ndΒ πŸ’– Gay MC’s πŸ“š Book 2 in the London Calling series πŸ’Œ Adult Romance ➽ I’m normally a bit unsure about standalone books getting sequels, but I loved Boyfriend MaterialΒ and wanted more from the ending! Husband Material will hopefully give me the content I was craving, I cannot wait to see my faves again πŸ’•

Wild is the Witch (Rachel Griffin) πŸ’• Publication: August 2nd πŸ’– Social Anxiety πŸ’Œ YA Fantasy ➽ I read Rachel Griffin’s debut ‘The Nature of Witches’ last year and I loved it! Her brand seems to be books about witches and I’m 100% here for it ✨ This one has enemies to lovers AND forbidden love πŸ‘€

The Feeling of Falling in Love (Mason Deaver) πŸ’• Publication: August 2nd πŸ’– Trans Gay MC πŸ’Œ YA Contemporary ➽ I still haven’t caught up with Mason Deaver’s backlist, but I’m still excited for their books! This is a book about two trans boys falling for each other and it has got the ‘They were Roommates’ trope, which I love – I’m very hyped!! πŸ₯°

Empty Smiles (Katherine Arden) πŸ’• Publication: August 9th πŸ’– Biracial MC πŸ“š Book 4 in the Small Spaces series πŸ’Œ MG Horror ➽ One of my favorite spooky Middle Grade series is coming to an end πŸ₯Ί The previous book left us with a mean cliffhanger so I cannot wait to see what happens next! I did not expect clowns to be involved, but now I’m intrigued πŸ‘€

These Fleeting Shadows (Kate Alice Marshall) πŸ’• Publication: August 9th πŸ’– Queer MC πŸ’Œ YA Horror ➽ Of course Kate Alice Marshall has to be on this list! I have loved all of her books and I’m ready for her next one. These Fleeting Shadows isn’t set in the same universe as her previous books but it has ghosts, a potentially haunted house, and an enemies to lovers romance – so sign me up πŸ‘»

Carrie Soto is Back (Taylor Jenkins Reid) πŸ’• Publication: August 30th πŸ’– Biracial MC πŸ’Œ Adult Historical Fiction ➽ I’m slowly reading more books by Taylor Jenkins Reid (so far I’ve only read Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo) and her upcoming book sounds fantastic! It’s about tennis champion Carrie Soto who makes a career comeback to take back her record 🎾 This is apparently a character featured in Malibu Rising, but I haven’t read that one yet.

The Dragon’s Promise (Elizabeth Lim) πŸ’• Publication: August 30th πŸ’– Chinese-inspired world πŸ“š Book 2 in the Six Crimson Cranes duology πŸ’Œ YA Fantasy ➽ I read Six Crimson Cranes earlier this year and I was surprised by how much I loved it πŸ’• It would have made a great standalone, but there is a second book and I’m hyped, especially as it’ll give us more insight into a certain dragon πŸ‘€

Amari and the Great Game (B.B. Alson) πŸ’• Publication: August 30th πŸ’– Black MC πŸ“š Book 2 in the Supernatural Investigators series πŸ’Œ MG Fantasy ➽ Another sequel I’m excited for! I had so much fun with Amari and the Nightbrothers when I first read it last year and I cannot wait to see where this story goes. I love the world and the magic ✨

Ravenfall (Kalyn Josephson) πŸ’• Publication: August 30th πŸ’– MG Fantasy ➽ I love spooky Middle Grade books and I know I like Josephson’s writing! Ravenfall is about a girl from a psychic family and a boy searching for his missing brother. There is a spooky Inn and lots of paranormal creatures πŸ§›πŸ»

September

Β

The Sunbearer Trials (Aiden Thomas) πŸ’• Publication: September 6th πŸ’– Latinx Trans MC πŸ“š YA Fantasy ➽ I love Aiden Thomas’ books so I’m very excited for his next release!! The Sunbearer Trials is about a deadly competition, the offsprings of ancient gods, and keeping dangerous monsters at bay. The main character Teo is thrown into the game even though he isn’t as powerful as the others. I already preordered this as it sounds so good and you get some cool trading cards!! πŸ’•

I’m the Girl (Courtney Summers) πŸ’• Publication: September 13th πŸ’– Queer MC πŸ“š YA Thriller ➽ Finally another Courtney Summers book!! I loved Sadie so much and I have been meaning to read another book by this author. I’m the Girl is about Georgie who finds the body of a dead girl and teams up with her sister to find the killer. If this is anything like Sadie, it’ll be thrilling from start to finish 😱

October

Fence Vol 5. Rise (C.S. Pacat, Johanna the Mad) πŸ’• Publication: October 13th πŸ’– Queer MC’s πŸ“š Book 5 in the Fence series πŸ’Œ Graphic Novel ➽ Finally another Fence volume!! I adored the first four volumes and I cannot wait for the story to continue πŸ’• Fence is about rivals Nicholas and Seiji and this volume seems to feature a training camp which has me intrigued πŸ‘€

November

Β

A Restless Truth (Freya Marske) πŸ’• Publication: November 1stΒ πŸ’– Sapphic MC’s πŸ“š Book 2 in the The Last Binding duology πŸ’Œ New Adult Historical Fantasy ➽ This is the sequel to A Marvellous Light and follows Maud, Robin’s sister who I wanted to see more of – I got my wish fulfilled πŸ₯° The tagline is literally “Magic! Murder! Shipboard romance!” so that tells you everything you need to know πŸ˜„

The Luminaries (Susan Dennard) πŸ’• Publication: November 8th πŸ’– YA Fantasy ➽ Sadly we’re not getting the last Witchlands book this year, instead there is a brand new series!! The Luminaries originated from a Twitter ‘Choose your own adventure’ game. I personally didn’t join in as it wasn’t my thing, but I’m excited that the world and characters are now becoming a full-length novel πŸ₯³ The Luminaries is about outcast Winnie who vows to compete in the Hunter trials to restore her family’s reputation … but bad things are lurking in their town and the forest surrounding it πŸ‘€ I already preordered this and if you’re from the US/Canada you can receive a cool pin as a preorder perk πŸ’•

A Wilderness of Stars (Shea Ernshaw) πŸ’• Publication: November 29th πŸ’– YA Fantasy ➽ I’m behind on Ernshaw’s backlist books, but they always have such intriguing premises! A Wilderness of Stars is about Vega, the Last Astronomer who wants to find the cure to a mysterious disease but ends up being hunted down instead 😱
