Hello fellow bookworms π September means the return of seasonal Tags!! π₯° I have done a ton of autumnal book tags over the years, so it’s difficult to find a new one to do. In the end, I discovered the Cozy Autumn Book Tag, which I haven’t done before! I love the coziness that autumn brings to me each year, so it was perfect for me β€οΈ The Tag was originally created by The Book Belle
I’m Tagging …π
- Abi @ Scribbles & Stories
- Destiny @ howlinglibraries
- Jordyn @ Birdie’s Book Nook
- Kal @ readervoracious
- Sophie @ meandink
- Tasya @ theliteraryhuntress
- & anyone else who loves autumn!
1. What book always reminds you of fall/autumn? π
β½ I have the usual suspects that I love the reread every autumn! In terms of spooky books, I love the Small Spaces Quartet (now completed) because itβs really clever and addictive. The first book is set in Autumn and has a perfect atmosphere π The other books focus on the remaining seasons, but are still spooky! Apart from that I also love Pumpkinheads because itβs set at a pumpkin patch and we donβt have them here in Germany, so Iβm living vicariously through this book π₯Ί
2. What is your favourite autumnal book cover? π
- An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
- Ravenfall by Kalyn Josephson
- The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin
3. What is your favourite autumnal drink to read with? π΅
β½ I always associate tea with autumn and Iβm so happy to be drinking it again! (Unlike coffee I barely drink any tea in summer) I donβt have any βautumnalβ teas, but I love peppermint and rooibos teas a lot π₯° The classic Pumpkin Spice Latte has to be there as well, but I usually only have it once in autumn. I visit Starbucks, grab my PSL and read an appropriate book as a tradition each October π I wish I could indulge more often but these special drinks are expensive π
4. Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning? π
β½ At Night because Iβm 100% a Night Owl π¦ I get my best reading done in the late afternoon/evening and use it as a way to unwind before going to sleep! I almost never read in the morning (unless itβs for a 24 Hour Readathon), because Iβm not a morning person and reading makes me want to go right back to bed – itβs so relaxing π
5. Halloween is coming! What is your favourite spooky read? π»
β½ I have to mention Kate Alice Marshall here because she writes the BEST YA horror books π₯° My favorite book by her is Rules for Vanishing (a mixed-media book about a group of teens going down a spooky road, chasing a local legend), because itβs the scariest and had me unsettled so many times π± I also liked Our Last Echoes (mixed-media, desolated spooky island), These Fleeting Shadows (mysterious family inheritance, spooky house) and Thirteens (this oneβs MG! about a town with a sinister secret) β€οΈ
6. What is the ultimate comfort read for you? β€οΈ
β½ Thatβs a difficult question to answer because I love rereading and have lots of comforting books! My mind immediately went to graphic novels though, as I find them so visually appealing and easy to get through. My favorites are Catβs CafΓ©, The Sad Ghost Club, and Fence π₯° Fence Catβs Cafe have new books out this year that I definitely need to read!
7. What is your favourite autumnal reading snack? πͺ
β½ I donβt snack much while reading and usually, itβs just some pretzels π₯¨ In terms of general βautumn foodβ I LOVE pumpkin soup (any soup really, soup season is about to begin!), pumpkin cookies, and brownies (I have a recipe for a βBrownie Graveyardβ) π€€
8. What is your favourite autumnal candle to burn whilst reading? π―οΈ
β½ I only got my first autumnal candle (Pumpkin Latte scented) last year from TK Maxx because we donβt have as much autumn/spooky decor compared to the US. This year I got another one called βCreepy Pumpkinβ and Iβm so excited to try it out!! In terms of scent, I usually go for pumpkin, apples or cinnamon, three things I always associate with autumn π
9. When youβre not reading, what is your favourite autumnal activity? π
(1) I like to watch spooky shows and movies! I LOVE themed content and I like getting a bit spooked (though I donβt do straight-up horror, my heart canβt take it π). Autumn-themed reading vlogs are also SO much fun!
(2) Thereβs also something about autumn that compels me to bake something! Things like brownies, waffles, and cookies just fit in with the season so well and I can enjoy them with a hot drink π΅ I often go months without baking anything, but in autumn I go all out!
(3) Thereβs also something about decorating, lighting scented candles, and carving my annual Halloween pumpkin that makes me especially happy in autumn π₯°
10. What is on your autumn/fall reading list? π
- Hide by Kiersten White
- Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes
- Brackenbeast by Kate Alice Marshall
β½ I have a REALLY long autumn reading list with lots of options, so this is only a small selection π I choose the three books that have the highest priority for me right now and that I definitely want to read. Hide and Dead Silence are two Adult horrors that I have been eyeing for a while and cannot wait to read. Brackenbeast is the sequel to Thirteens, a MG Horror about three kids in a cursed small town π I thought this was the finale, but thereβs going to be a third book!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for tagging me in this!! π₯° I love autumn so much and I can’t WAIT to answer these questions! π
I’m glad I’m not the only one who starts baking all the time in autumn! I made apple cinnamon bread this week and it was delicious π
I also love rereading Pumpkinheads every Halloween. I would love to go to a pumpkin patch like the one in that book. π I’ve been to a corn maze that’s quite similar (except corn themed) but never found a pumpkin patch in England π

I’m looking forward to reading your answers! π₯°π
Omg apple cinnamon bread sounds amazing!! I’m hoping to bake some pumpkin cookies this week and I already baked some brownies and chocolate chip cookies recently π€€
Pumpkinheads has become such a Halloween classic for me!! Sadly Pumpkin Patches seem to be an American thing, I wish we had something like that here as well!

I loved this tag, Caro! Autumnal tags are the best, right? Thereβs something special in this season.
You mentioned Kate Alice Marshall so much that I checked out and we only have Thirteens as an audiobook. Even though I donβt really like audio format, Iβm gonna try because Iβm so in need of a spooky middle grade!
Soups are so good, I ate a sweet-chilli carrot soup yesterday and it was so good. π€€
