Hello fellow bookworms ๐ธ Spring is slowly arriving here and the days are getting warmer. It was perfect timing that Dini @ dinipandareads tagged me for the Spring Cleaning Book Tag! You should definitely check out her blog, I love reading her posts ๐ฅฐ The Tag was originally created by Amanda @ Between the Shelves ๐ธ
I’m Tagging ๐ธ
- Malliumpkin @ Chapter Malliumpkin
- Marie & Nyx @ drizzleandhurricanebooks
- Ruby @ rubyraereads
- & anyone else who wants to do the Tag!
1. Getting started: A book series youโve been wanting to read
โฝ I have SO many series that I’ve been wanting to read! In the end, I choose Chilling Effect, an Adult Sci-Fi series about a ship captain who gets into trouble, and apparently, lots of chaos ensues. The reason I picked this series is that it features psychic cats and I only recently realized that the cats are actually on the cover ๐ No idea why I didn’t see them sooner, but I love that ALL covers for the series have the cats ๐
I’m this cat!
2. Cleaning/organising the closet: The best way to organise books
โฝ Despite being a planner at heart, my bookshelves don’t have an intricate organization system ๐ I usually keep my favorite books at the very top shelf, have a TBR shelf in the middle, and then organize them according to the genre. I also take into account the height of the books, I hate when series have height differences ๐ญ
3. Getting rid of unnecessary things: Books/series you no longer need
โฝ I included some books for this that I’ll likely unhaul in the future! Unhauling physical books is always a bit tricky here, as I get almost nothing for them and most libraries prefer to receive German books. The Pearl Thief is part of the Code Name Verity series and while I loved the other books, this prequel was a huge disappointment! An unpopular opinion is that I likely won’t keep my copies of the Shades of Magic Trilogy. I really liked the first book when I read it a couple of years ago, but the sequels were so underwhelming for me ๐
4. Get some air: Your favourite light-hearted read
โฝ I have many comfort books, but more people need to read Cat’s Cafรฉ!ย It’s a graphic novel about a coffee shop and the animals that frequent it. The collection of stories is super wholesome and yet also talks about mental health, insecurity and friendships! It’s almost impossible not to find the characters endearing ๐ฅบ
5. Clean out the kitchen cupboards: Favourite food-themed read
โฝ I do love when books include food as a central theme!!ย One of the more memorable books are Legends and Lattes (about a coffee shop that includes descriptions of delicious pastries) and Crumbs (a bakery that offers pastries with magical properties) โ So I guess the theme is pastries and coffee for this question ๐
6. Dust the shelves: Whatโs the fifth book on your bookshelf?
โฝ I started at the very top shelf and the fifth book is The Sword of Summer!ย I keep all my favorites on this shelf, including all the Rick Riordan books ๐ The Magnus Chase series is one of my favorite series by him – I really need to reread it someday!
7. Wishing for the end: A 2023 release youโre really excited about
- Where Echoes Die (Courtney Gould) ๐ June 20th
- New Adult (Timothy Janovsky) ๐
- Bookshops & Bonedust (Travis Baldree) ๐
8. Long but satisfying: The longest book series youโve read.
๐ 8 Books ๐
โฝ It was super interesting to see what my longest series was!ย I only looked for series that were completed/that I’m caught up on at the moment. The really long series were 6 books at max (e.g. Vampire Academy, Miss Peregrine’s) or old childhood favorites. But there’s one long series and that is the Wayward Children series!! The 8th book came out this year and I’m caught up at the moment – there will be more books coming in the future. I really like these portal fantasy novellas ๐ฅฐ
How do you organize your books? What is the longest book series you’ve read? ๐ธ
Omg cat cafรฉ sounds super cute and comforting !!

Bookshops and Bonedust! YES! ๐ I’m ridiculously excited about that book cos Legends & Lattes was one of my favourite reads last year. So cosy and so satisfying ๐ฅฐ I hadn’t heard of Chilling Effect before but it sounds really fun. I’m gonna check it out. Great post, I really enjoyed reading your answers, Caro! ๐

cat’s cafe looks so fun and cute, i’ll definitely have to check out since i’ve been wanting more graphic novel recs! i organize my books by color, but i’ve debated separating my tbr books like you do to shame myself into reading them haha (or to visually see what’s on my tbr). this was so fun to read! โค

Cats Cafe is one of my favorite graphic novels, it’s so touching and wholesome ๐ฅฐ Ohh I love seeing a good rainbow shelf!! I like having my TBR shelf, so I don’t forget about the books I still have to read ๐ Thank you ๐

Did I IMMEDIATELY add Chilling Effect to my TBR because of cats? Yes. Yes I did. ๐

This is such a fun tag! Iโve actually read Chilling Effect and I have the sequel Prime Deceptions to get to soon. I will say the psychic cats donโt feature that much in the story (for the first book anyway), but itโs absolutely hilarious and I highly recommend it. Itโs probably the funniest sci-fi Iโve ever read, with a really compelling plot too. ๐
I actually couldnโt even finish A Darker Shade of Magic, so you aren’t alone in not loving that series! ๐ I have quite a few ways of organising my shelves – I have my favourites all together by series and genre, my other books sorted into paperback and hardback, then my standalones are in rainbow order! And the longest series I’ve ever read is the Morganville Vampires at 15 books long! I love a long series and that one is still my favourite. โค๏ธ

Glad to hear that you liked Chillign Effect, if I remember correctly I saw it on your blog ๐ฅฐ I had a feeling this would be a fun book and I’ll take any mention of the psychic cats I can get ๐ I love sci-fi books that are funny!
I read A Darker Shade of Magic ages ago, I should have just read the sequels back then ๐ Glad I’m not the only one with several bookshelf organization methods! I never read this series, but if I love a series, I’m very happy if it’s long ๐ฅฐ
