The New Releases Book Tag πŸ’Œ Talking about #2021 releases

New Releases Book Tag

Hello fellow bookworms πŸ’ŒΒ It’s always so much fun to talk about all the new books coming out in 2021, so I was incredibly excited to see that Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx created the New Releases Book Tag! It’s centered around books that are new releases, which means any book that has been or is expected to release in 2021. This is a wonderful Tag with so man great questions that I could see myself doing again each year πŸ₯° I wasn’t tagged to do it, but I couldn’t resist answering the questions and had so much fun coming up with my answers! All the book covers link back to the book’s Goodreads page and I also included the release date of all books, so you can see if they are still out or when they will be released ❀

Me trying to keep up with all the new releases

The RulesΒ

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Answer all the questions down below
  3. Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  4. Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag

A new release that’s already come out but you haven’t read yet

  • Concrete Rose (Angie Thomas) πŸ’Œ January 12th
  • You Have a Match (Emma Lord) πŸ’Œ January 12th
  • The Ex Talk (Rachel Lynn Solomon) πŸ’Œ January 26th

➽ There are SO many new releases I haven’t yet gotten to. I only read about 6 or maybe 7 books released in 2021 and I haven’t gotten to many of my most anticipated releases 😱 The three that immediately came to mind were Concrete Rose (I even got myself the paperback but didn’t manage to read it over my semester break), You Have a Match (my library has the audiobook, so there’s hope I’ll read this soon) and The Ex Talk (this was recently on sale @ Kindle, so now I have the e-book!), which I hope to read before the year is over πŸ™

A new release you just found out about

  • Under the Whispering Door (T.J. Klune) πŸ’Œ September 21st
  • A Marvellous Night (Freya Marske) πŸ’Œ November 2nd
  • The Girls are Never Gone (Sarah Glenn Marsh) πŸ’Œ September 7th

➽ I sorted my ‘2021 releases’ Goodreads Shelf by Date Added to answer this question πŸ‘€ The most recent book I added was Under the Whispering Door, an upcoming book I hadn’t paid too much attention to because I didn’t like T.J. Klune’s YA book – The Extraordinaries – last year. But then!!!! Then I read The House in the Cerulean Sea and fell in love with it! Under the Whispering Door seems similar to it, so I knew I had to read it! I only saw A Marvellous Light added by someone on Goodreads but it sounded so good (magic! historical fantasy! libraries! m/m enemies to lovers pairing!!). Lastly, I got intrigued by The Girls are Never Gone, as I have been wanting to read a book by Sarah Glenn Marsh for ages and this one has a podcast & looks super creepy (the cover alone is giving me chills) 😱

A new release you’re excited about from one of your favourite authors

  • Witchshadow (Susan Dennard) πŸ’Œ June 22nd
  • Fugitive Telemetry (Martha Wells) πŸ’Œ April 27th
  • Daughter of the Deep (Rick Riordan) πŸ’Œ October 5th

➽ I have so many more books by favorite authors coming out, but these three are my top priorities! πŸ’“ One of them is obviously Witchshadow as I’m a big fan of the Witchlands books – it’s one of my if not my favorite series – and cannot wait to finally read the next installment, which is coming out soon!!! I’m also hyped for the next Murderbot Diaries book – Fugitive Telemetry – as I have become slightly obsessed with Murderbot since last year πŸ₯Ί (We also finally got confirmation that there will be more books in the series!!!!) Lastly, I had to mention Daughter of the Deep, Rick Riordan’s first new book set outside the Percy Jackson Universe. It already sounds promising and I cannot wait to enter a new world!

A new release you’re excited about from a new-to-you author

  • Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry (Joya Goffney) πŸ’Œ May 4th
  • The Dead and the Dark (Courtney Gould) πŸ’Œ August 3rd
  • The Nature of Witches (Rachel Griffin) πŸ’Œ June 1st

➽ Alongside my favorite authors I always have some new authors on my new releases list as well 😊 I picked the three books I’m most excited for, though I definitely have more debut/new to me authors on my 2021 Goodreads shelf. The book I’m most looking forward to is The Dead and the Dark, which I’ll read next month as I was fortunate enough to get approved for an eArc πŸ₯° I’m also hyped for Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry and The Nature of Witches! It’s always so nice to discover a new author to love, so I have high hopes for these books!

A new release you have no interest in

  • The Ones We’re Meant to Find (Joan He) πŸ’Œ May 4th
  • Kate in Waiting (Becky Albertalli) πŸ’Œ April 20th
  • Better Together (Christine Riccio) πŸ’ŒΒ June 1st

➽ With so many new releases coming out there, it’s impossible to be interested in all of them. I have to be selective of what new books I put on my TBR list and some simply don’t make the cut for a variety of reasons. A book that I’ve seen hyped a lot is The Ones We’re Meant to Find, though sadly I’m not that interested in the premise and hard the pacing is quite slow. I’m happy this book has received so much love though! Another book I have no interest in reading is Kate in Waiting, as I feel like I’ve outgrown Becky Albertalli’s books. I loved Simon VS, but none of other her books have worked for me πŸ˜… The only book I’m really salty about is Better Together, Christine Riccio’s second book. I had some big issues with her first book and somehow her newest one has an even lower Goodreads rating 🀐

A new release you want to pick up soon

  • Rule of Wolves (Leigh Bardugo) πŸ’ŒΒ March 30th
  • The Desolation of Devil’s Acre (Ransom Riggs) πŸ’ŒΒ February 23rd
  • Lost in the Never Woods (Aiden Thomas) πŸ’ŒΒ March 23rd

➽ There are literally so many new books I want to get to, so it was hard to choose πŸ˜… I got a copy of The Desolation of Devil’s Acre – the sixth and final Miss Peregrine’s book – for my birthday and have been wanting to read it soon, though I haven’t found the time to do so yet! I also need to read Rule of Wolves, but after watching the show, I kind of want to do an entire Grishaverse reread before diving back into this πŸ‘€ Another book I keep hyping up for myself is Lost in the Never Woods as I loved Aiden Thomas’ debut novel Cemetery Boys so much!! My library even got the audiobook for this now, which makes it more likely I’ll read it soon πŸ₯°

A new release that hasn’t come out yet but you can’t wait to read!

  • All of Us Villains (Amanda Foody & Christine Lynn Herman) πŸ’Œ November 9th
  • Vespertine (Margaret Rogerson) πŸ’ŒΒ September 28th
  • The Bronzed Beasts (Roshani Chokshi) πŸ’ŒΒ September 21st

➽ I’ll be doing a second Most Anticipated Releases post for the remaining year with more books, but here are my current top 3 unreleased books I want to get to the mostΒ  ❀ I’m incredibly excited for Amanda Foody’s newest release All of Us Villains, even though I still haven’t finished the Shadow Game Trilogy. I loved Ace of Shades though and I’m done for more books by her! Margaret Rogerson is also finally coming out with another book!! Her Fantasy Standalone books have been consistently on my favorites of the year lest, so I have high hopes for Vespertine πŸ₯° Then I have a series conclusion on my list as well, it’s The Bronzed Beasts, the last Gilded Wolves book! The second book was intense so I’m nervous to see how everything ends 😱

A new release with an amazing cover

  • Meet Cute Diary (Emery Lee) πŸ’Œ May 4th
  • Between You, Me, and the Honeybees (Amelia Diane Coombs) πŸ’Œ June 22nd
  • XOXO (Axie Oh) πŸ’Œ July 13th

Your favourite new release you’ve read so far this year & A New Release You’ve Already Read

  • Our Last Echoes (Kate Alice Marshall) πŸ’Œ March 16th ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Review
  • You’ve Reached Sam (Dustin Thao) πŸ’Œ November 2nd ⭐⭐⭐⭐ RTC soon
  • Across the Green Grass Fields (Seanan McGuire) πŸ’Œ January 12th ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Review

➽ I combined these two questions and included the 3 books I loved the most so far πŸ₯° My top favorite 2021 release was Our Last Echoes, another book by Kate Alice Marshall told in mixed media format! It’s connected to Rules for Vanishing which I loved last year and I had such a great time with the author’s newest book ❀ I also liked You’ve Reached Sam – I was fortunate enough to get an eArc – it was a slow but emotional story! Lastly, I enjoyed Across the Green Grass Fields, the sixth installment in the Wayward Children series 😊

I’m Tagging

Divider2 (2)Have you read/are you excited for any of the new releases I mentioned? What is your favorite new release you’ve read so far this year? πŸ’Œ

  1. I really wanna read “You Have a Match” too, just because I enjoyed Tweet Cute so much and can see myself loving this one too.
I’ve actually just finished The Nature of Witches this week. There were parts that I thought were really cool, but over all, I think it didn’t live up to what I had imagined in my mind. Still an enjoyable read though!
And lastly, I really wanna read Rule of Wolves, but I also really don’t? I think I’m stalling, because then I really will be all out of Grishaverse content and I don’t want to have to deal with that.

    1. You Have a Match sounds like the perfect summer contemporary, I hope to read it soon πŸ₯° I heard some mixed things about The Nature of Witches, but I still hope to enjoy it! I’m definitely worried about how Rule of Wolves will end, but I also really want to return to the Grishaverse πŸ˜„

  2. Thanks for the tag!!! I love this so much, I even wrote and scheduled the blog post. πŸ˜‚ I also have yet to read You Have a Match, Meet Cute Diary and XOXO! I’m so excited for You’ve Reached Sam, Across the Green Fields, I’m glad you enjoyed those! This is such a fun tag. 😁

  3. i wish my experience could’ve been the same but i’m so glad you enjoyed you’ve reached sam! and i just finished reading the ones we’re meant to find a few days ago, and not planning to read it was a good decision on your part since it definitely was disappointing for me. i’m also really excited for the bronzed beasts! i’m feel nervous about the ending too but i can’t wait to see how it all plays out 😭

    1. Sorry to hear that you didn’t quite like You’ve Reached Sam and The Ones We’re Meant to Find – it’s always disappointing if books don’t live up to your expectations πŸ˜” The Bronzed Beasts will probably hurt emotionally, much like the second book 😭

  4. I ended up doing an entire Grishaverse reread before ROW, and honestly? It was so worth it. So many things happen in ROW that are callbacks to the previous books that I was really happy with having all of it fresh when I went in.
