Top 5 Wednesday

Favorite F/F Couples

ff couples Kopie

Hello fellow bookworms 💕 It’s time for another Top Five Wednesday, which is a weekly meme which was created by Lainey and is now hosted by Sam! This week’s topic is Favorite F/F Couples! (Note by Sam: this isn’t specifically cis lesbian couples, but also applies to couples that include bi women, trans women, pan women, ace women, etc.) This week is actually the only week I will be participating, because the next two topics aren’t for me, as I don’t read a lot of romance novels and have already talked about Urban Fantasy books I like.

Nevertheless, I was really excited for this week’s topic, as F/F couples seem to be underrepresented in YA compared to M/M couples, which is why I definitely wanted to participate. Sadly, I haven’t read too many books that feature F/F couples, which is something I want to change, so I also included a few books that I want to read in the future, because it’s important to support them!

1. Grace & Eva (How to make a Wish) 💕This book generally is so underrated, you should definitely check it out! How to make a Wish is about Grace (who is bisexual) and her struggles with her emotionally abusive mother, who keeps switching between boyfriends and disrupting her life. When she is back in her town, she meets Eva, who was taken in by her best friend’s family and both girls grow closer together. I loved seeing them get to know each other and spending lots of time talking. Each girl has a lot to deal with Grace with her mother and Eva with the grief she is coping with. Things are complicated, but I love that both girls still find together, no matter how difficult everything becomes. Therefore, I really enjoyed reading about Grace and Eva and would highly recommend the book!

2. Charlie & Alyssa (Queens of Geek) 💕 You should know by now that I absolutely loved Queens of Geek, because it was such a heartfelt story about fandom, anxiety, friendship and so much more. Charlie is one of the two narrators and an openly bisexual Youtuber, who recently starred in a popular indie movie. Throughout the course of the book she falls head over heels for her crush & YouTube idol Alyssa, who is also attending the convention at which the book takes place. However, Charlie’s crush is not one-sided like she thought and so both girls end up falling for each other. Their romance is super cute and I was totally rooting for them! Alyssa makes Charlie realize a few things and in the end there is a happy ending for both of them!

3. Vivia & Stix (Windwitch) 💕 I have to admit that they are not a canon couple and their relationship is just unfolding, but I really like what I have seen of their romance so far. Vivia is one of the main characters and has a POV in Windwitch, which is the sequel to Truthwitch. Stix is her right hand (or something, it has been a year since I read said book right when it came out) and both have known each other for a very long time, therefore they also trust each other. Towards the end of the book there is a short kiss scene, which has me hoping that we will see more of their beginning romance in the next book, because as of right now they are not a couple. However, I do see potential for them to grow closer in book 3.  Both are two kick ass witches, so they would make a great power couple!

4. Nicole Haught & Waverly Earp (TV) 💕 I have to admit that I haven’t watched all of Wynonna Earp yet (but it’s seriously so good, you should watch it!), but I had to include these two, because they are so cute together. Waverly’s ex-boyfriend was super annoying, so I’m very glad that she meet and fell in love with Nicole, because she’s so much better and actually values her. I haven’t watched far enough to see a lot more of their relationship, but I’m very much looking forward to it! Now that my semester is over, I should finally have the time to binge-watch Wynonna Earp!

  1. OH I am so glad you recommend How To Make a Wish, that book has been on my TBR for ages now, I can’t wait to read it 🙂 and YAY for Queens of Geek, I loved this book so much 🙂
I read Girls Made of Snow and Glass recently and I really enjoyed it – I hope you will just as welL. There wasn’t as much focus on romance as I thought there would be, but it was still a great book 🙂

    1. I’m so sorry I haven’t answered for so long, my notifications didn’t show me this comment 😨 How to Make A Wish is amazing and now the paperback is coming out in May, so another reason to read it! 🙂
I’m definitely still intrigued by Girls of Snow and Glass!

  2. Any list that includes Waverly and Nicole is already a really stellar and amazing list to begin with but I loved all the couples you chose. Queens of Geek was one of my favourite books last year 😀
I really hope you’ll enjoy We Are Okay when you get to it. It’s a very character driven book but so far Nina LaCour has never once disappointed me with her writing.

    1. Aww 😍 I still haven’t watched all episodes of Wynonna Earp, I NEED to get to them like right now 😀 Queens of Geek is absolutely amazing, I’m glad to hear you liked it too ♥
I think I’ll like it, especially as it explores serious topics! I have read Everything Leads to You, which wasn’t my favorite but definitely was very enjoyable 🙂

      1. Everything Leads to You wasn’t my favourite either, but I loved You Know Me Well and We Are Okay 🙂

And go watch those episodes of Wynonna Earp!!! It was such a good second season. Like, just wow on the acting.

  3. These look really cute! I don’t usually read queer fiction specifically but I do like the ones I come across on occasion. The last I remember was from Geekerella but I don’t want to spoil you if you haven’t read it yet. It was just super adorable, if brief!
Great post for Valentine’s Day ❤️❤️

  4. I feel like I’ve read some amazing books with f/f romances, but not many couples stuck as otps – mostly because the books didn’t focus all that much on the romances. I really like The Story of Lizzy and Darcy, it’s a retelling of Pride and Prejudice and the romance is a slow-burn and it’s really cute. I can’t wait to read Queens of Geek because everybody loves this book and I want to love it as well! ❤
Lovely post, thank you for the recommendations!

    1. That’s how I felt as well! I liked a few couples that aren’t on this list, but just not enough to consider them a real OTP 😮 Oh I haven’t heard of The Story of Lizzy and Darcy, must check it out now 🙂
Queens of Geek is amaaaazing ♥
      Thank you!! ♥

  5. I love this post!!! I almost died of feels reading Queen of geeks because Charlie & Alyssa are just too adorable together! I was planning on reading Truthwitch but now that I know there’s an F/F couple in the series, I’m gonna read it even sooner. And I need to read How to make a wish! I totally recommend Abyss surrounds us btw 💖

    1. Thank you!!! Charlie & Alyssa were so precious and adorable together 😍😍 Yes please read Truthwitch!! 🙂 However, I have to say that the f/f couple is only present in book 2, but hopefully we’ll get more of them in book 3 next year!

  6. I need to read Queens of Geek ASAP… not sure it’s possible but I want too! I hear so many good things about it and FANDOMS… LOVE them! I’ve read Labrynth Lost and while I liked the book the girl didn’t read as bisexual to me… I really hope you enjoy it though! ♥️
