OutOfComfortZone Reading Challenge 2021

Hello fellow bookworms πŸ’—Β  As we’re nearing the end of the year, my first ever reading challenge – the Out of Comfort Zone Challenge – is drawing to a close. Hosting a challenge on my own for the first time brough its challenges, but I loved it so much and had a lot of fun getting out of my comfort zone with my reading. It has brought me some amazing new favorite books that I wouldn’t have picked up so soon, some of them books I might never haveΒ  even read so I’m satisfied with how my reading has gone this year πŸ₯° Today, I want to reflect on the #outofcomfortzone 2020 a bit, sharing what books I read, what lovely people participated and some fun stats! I’ll keep it short as I’ll also share a reminder of what my challenge is about and the 2021 signup! A lot of things are staying the same, but there’s a new bingo board, fun templates and there will also be some themed recommendation posts coming next year πŸ’— I’m super excited and would love for you to join my challenge next year, if it sounds interesting to you! πŸ’•

Reminder: What is the Out of Your Comfort Zone Reading Challenge? πŸ’—

The aim of this challenge is to read books that you consider to be outside of your comfort zone. Often I feel myself gravitating to the same kinds of books especially when it comes to age range and genres. Therefore, you can join this challenge if you wish to read more broadly (and adventurously) and dive into genres you don’t reach for as often. The Challenge itself is tailored to your goals, so it’s going to be relaxed and individual as everyone has a different definition of their comfort zone. You can set yourself a number of books to read in a particular genre (or subgenre, age range, etc.) or make a TBR with books you hope to get to!

Out of my comfort zone 2021

The Guidelines πŸ’—

  • The Challenge runs from January 1st, 2021 to December 31st, 2021
  • If you want to join, you can do so all year until the challenge ends β™₯
  • The goal of the reading challenge is to read genres/age ranges outside of your comfort zone (be as broad or specific as you’d like to be with that)
  • You can pick out as many genres/age ranges that you want to read more of and pick out how many books you’d like to read in that genre and/or make a TBR of books you’d like to try out.
  • For the books to count you have to begin and start them in 2021, as the challenge is geared towards this year – meaning that books started in 2020 don’t count.
  • Of course, any format of book works for this Readathon, as long as you can mark it as read on Goodreads!
  • This is all very relaxed, so do whatever works best for you, be it how many categories, books and TBR’s as you want!

How you can join πŸ’—

  • Fill out the form at the end of the post if you’re interested in joining!Β
  • You can join by setting up a post on your platform, be it Blog, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc. with your reading goals/TBR for the Readathon
  • Please link back to this announcement post. You can also tag me on Twitter, Goodreads and on WordPress because I’ love to hear all about your progress and reading plans
  • You can also use the Reading Challenge Banner and the Icon in your signup/TBR post if you want to (and award yourself the badges once you reach the goals!
  • Share your TBR’s/Posts/Progress throughout the year with the hashtag #outofcomfortzonechallenge!Β
  • You can keep track of your progress via social media, a post or blog page, whatever works best for you!
  • There’s also a Google Form to add your read booksΒ because I thought it would be cool to see what books we all read throughout the year!

Starting this year I’m also offering an optional bingo board you can fill out, if you’d like to have a few extra challenges to your reading! As I said, you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, but I thought it would be a lot of fun, especially as I personally love bingo boards πŸ’—

Templates πŸ’—

This year, I’m offering some templates for setting up your TBR and/or posting updates on your platform/social media, as I thought it would be nice if you can’t or don’t want to make your own graphics πŸ’• In this Google Drive folder you can download all graphic resources (templates, bingo board and badges)!Β  For making my graphics I use Canva, which I highly recommend! I use the fonts Selima and Open Sans Condense, as well as this cat vector for my images πŸ₯°
