Winter is here Write Tag

Write Kopie

Hello fellow bookworms 🖋 I saw this amazing Tag over at Marie’s blog and immediately felt addressed because I am a fellow writer! Definitely check out her post, I really liked it and I absolutely love the aesthetics 😍 Technically winter is almost over, but it SNOWED here last week so this is still appropriate now 😜 Furthermore, this was a good exercise to get back into my WIP, which I have not touched since writing the first 75% in November. I want to write the last 25%, edit it sometime later BUT as my CampNaNo April project I want to read the sequel, requiring me to get back into the world and characters 🙂 I admit that I went a bit overboard with the aesthetics, but I wanted to do one for every character that I choose, so I hope you enjoy them! I highly recommend reading Lia’s post about how to make aesthetics, as that’s how I learned to make aesthetics and now I’m obsessed with them!

The Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you but also link back to the original post
  • Provide a short description of your WIP/story!
  • Don’t use the same character for more than 3 answers!

Short Summary

  • WITCHES in an urban fantasy setting
  • They are descendants of gods, which gives them the genes to use magic
  • Focus on European Witches which ingest wine to use their powers
  • Rivaling covens, since there were two different original bloodlines
  • Big Tournament to determine the Master, who’s the leader of the witch community and is supposed to unite the two covens
  • Protagonist who has lived in exile, since her father was banned and didn’t return must participate to save him when he’s kidnapped by the rivaling coven

Short breakdown of my characters

  • Astrid – my main character, good-hearted but impulsive
  • Ian – Astrid’s love interest, voice of reason #1
  • Cole – Ian’s brother, resident troublemaker
  • Yasmin – Astrid’s best friend, aspiring writer
  • Scarlett – becomes Astrid’s mentor, voice of reason #2
  • Cashel – the villain (at least according to Astrid 😉)
  • Ryan – Cashel’s cousin, very soft and caring

Questions and Answers

Which protagonist is most likely to break into Christmas song first? Bonus: What song?

cole (2)

🖋 Out of all characters Cole would be most likely to annoy everyone by randomly beginning to sing Christmas carols! He has absolutely no problem with singing, even if he’s terribly off-key and not a good singer at all. I think the song he would first bust out would be “Santa Claus is coming to town”, while dancing around the Christmas tree. It would surely annoy the hell out of all the characters, especially Ian who by this point is so done with his younger brother getting on his nerves. Astrid would probably join in sometime later, but the rest of them aren’t really keen on singing either!

It’s the first snow of the season, who would immediately book a ticket to a hot beach location?

ryan (2)

🖋 I don’t think that Ryan would like the cold weather at all and since he can definitely afford it, he would be off to his hot beach location of choice within seconds of the first snowfall. He would chill at the beach, go swimming and explore his surroundings while the rest of the crew stays in London, snowed in. Therefore, he would just be chilling there alone and having some great alone time, taking care of himself and rubbing the pretty pictures under everyone’s noses when he comes back.

Which character believed in Santa (or a mystical equivalent) for the longest time?

🖋 This was actually a hard one, but I think that I’m going with Ryan, because i can definitely see his cousin Cashel trying to keep the ‘magic’ alive for him and making him believe every year anew. Cashel is a very powerful illusion master, therefore, it would be easy for him to make Ryan see Santa every Christmas. However, at one point he definitely failed, because as Ryan grew up he got better at recognizing what is real and what is illusion!

Who is most likely to build a blanket fort and go into hibernation with books, Netflix and tea/hot cocoa/coffee?

yasmin (2)

🖋 I just had to choose Yasmin, because she’s 100% the person who loves to hide in a blanket fort from the reality, because everything is better than getting criticized by her mom and generally feeling judged. It would be her dream to just cozy up with a mug of hot chocolate away from the world, reading books or watching her favorite show without anyone else disturbing her! Eventually her best friend Astrid would surely join her and they would both have fun watching Netflix together and having a girls night – a welcome distraction, especially with everything going down in their lives!

Who would be the first to start a snowball fight and then get really competitive about it?

astrid (2)

🖋 I can envision Astrid getting super competitive with a snowball fight and trying to beat everyone. She’s a super fun person, who always is up to no good. Give her snow and she couldn’t resist forming a snowball and chucking it at Ian and Cole’s heads, resulting in a huge snowball fight. Astrid wouldn’t be stopped and play a bit dirty as well, as she has lots of mischief in her as well! She would have a blast rolling around in the snow, dodging snowballs and trying to anger Cole by hitting him with a snowball right in the face. Just imagining this scenario makes me want to laugh, it would be so hilarious!

Who buys their Christmas presents super last-minute?

🖋 I have to say two characters, because both Cole & Astrid would not be good at buying their Christmas presents on time. Out of all the characters they are the most chaotic and impulsive, meaning that I can see them putting off buying the presents until it’s the day before Christmas and all the stores are bursting with people. They would eventually get everything they want, but it would be super stressful for them. Would it teach them a lesson to start earlier next year? No.

There’s a local snowman competition, who would be the best sculptor? What would they build?

scarlett (2)

🖋 I think that Scarlett would build a really good snowman. She’s a very methodic, practical person who’s not shy to go into the snow and get her hands dirty. While the others are spending their time bickering and throwing snow at each other, she would immediately get to work and not stop until she is finished. Scarlett can get very ambitious, so she sets out to win. I think she would probably build some kind of animal, maybe a cat, something that’s a bit more creative!

If someone were to organize a Secret Santa event, who would it be?

ian (2)

🖋 I was tempted to say Scarlett again, but I can also really see Ian doing a Secret Santa with all his friends. He would definitely be good at organizing this little event and also hosting it at his place, being an excellent host of course (baking cookies, making mulled wine and having all the aesthetically pleasing decorations)! I can really envision him making everyone feel at home, as he’s a caring guy when you have earned his trust. He’s definitely the kind of person you want to have as a friend! He would probably invite all the characters except Cashel and Ryan, even if he used to be fond of Ryan.

Someone refuses to leave the house unless strictly necessary because of the cold. Who is it?

🖋 I wasn’t sure who to pick for this one, but in the end went with Yasmin, who I also chose for the “cuddling up in a blanket fort” one. She’s definitely someone who likes to get cozy and I can easily imagine her getting cold quite quickly, which is why I think she rarely wants to leave the house when it’s super cold. If she goes outside, it likely will involve Yasmin dressing up in multiple layers of clothing to keep warm and lots of stops at coffee shops to warm herself up.

Who puts style before comfort and would rather freeze in fashionable clothes than be warm but not on trend? Bonus: Add a winter aesthetic for the character!

cash2 (2)

🖋 I definitely imagine Cashel as someone who puts a lot of thought into his appearance! He’s always concerned with how he presents himself and since he has a reputation to uphold, he would never leave the house not looking elegant and flawless. Even the cold cannot stop Cashel from dressing up, because you never know who you might meet – god forbid that someone sees him in a huge parka and dozen layers of clothing. And yes that totally makes him fit the well-dressed villain trope, but I just love that trope xD

I’m tagging all fellow writers!!!

  1. AAAAH! I am always so happy to see someone do my tags and have fun with it! I am ALL for aesthetics, so bring them ooooon! 😀 They are absolutely gorgeous and I like the idea of witches in urban settings forever and always. Just a couple hours ago someone asked for witchy book recs and I could come up with so little. You go and finish your WIP during Camp NaNo – the world needs stories like that *high five*
