All the Festive Readathons! // Tis the Season, A Very Merry Readathon & Magical Feast

Hello fellow bookworms πŸŽ„ It should come as no surprise, that I was on the hunt for some Christmas Readathons to join in December as I a) love Readathons and b) love Christmas, so it was obviously something I needed to join πŸ’— In the end I went all out and joined not 1, not 2 but 3 festive Readathons, as there were so many amazing ones out there and I wish I could have joined even more! I have therefore planned my Readathon Marathon from December 3rd to December 26th so nearly the entire festive Season, which is amazing! I am so pumped to be doing all those Readathons, as they have lots of great challenges and I have lots of amazing books planned as well, including as many festive Reads as I could get ahold of.

I have quite a lot of rereads on my TBR as there are lots of annual rereads I do around the Christmas Season and a few other books that I think are perfect to reread in Winter, so that’s exciting as I love rereading 😍 I will also make sure to update you on my progress on Twitter, as I will hopefully have more time for reading now with NaNo done and that off my shoulders! Let the Readathoning begin!

(This will be a bit of a longer post, as I did include 3 Readathons, but I’ll hope you’ll read it anyways 😈)

I LOVE this movie btw

My Tis the Season TBR πŸŽ„

  1. Let it Snow (Green, Johnson, Myracle) πŸŽ„REREADπŸŽ„ Read a warm & fuzzy book & Read a book while listening to holiday music
  2. Fantastic Beasts Screenplay (J.K. Rowling) πŸŽ„REREADπŸŽ„ Read a short book (200-250 pages)
  3. A Gift for Bob (James Bowen) πŸŽ„Read a book with red or green on the cover & Read a holiday themed book

I’m really excited for all of these books as they are starting off the holiday season the right way! I’m not always up for week-long Readathons anymore, as they are very short, but I’m confident that I will manage to read these three books during the week, as I don’t have any writing to do anymore! As you can see I included two rereads, the first one is Let it Snow, an anthology that I love to reread every year as it’s so festive and the second one is the first Fantastic Beasts screenplay, as it’s the only appropriate short book I could find – it’s about 280 pages, so 30 pages over 250 – but as it’s still quite short and can be read in a day I decided to count it for the challenge! I actually love the Fantastic Beasts movies, so I cannot wait to reread this – Newt Scamander is my precious boy 😍 The only ‘new’ book for me to read is A Gift for Bob, another book about James Bowen and his adorable ginger cat, only this time it’s all about Christmas and therefore perfect! I LOVE this cat so much and as this was a gift from my mom, I really want to read it now!

My A Very Merry Readathon TBR πŸŽ„

  1. I’ll be Home for Christmas (Anthology) πŸŽ„ Read a book set during the holidays & Read a book with Christmassy colors on the cover
  2. The Book Thief (Markus Zusak) πŸŽ„REREADπŸŽ„ Read a book just because you want to & Read a book with illustrations
  3. Harry Potter 2 (J.K. Rowling) πŸŽ„REREADπŸŽ„ Read a book you got as a gift

I’m always on the lookout for some festive YA books so when I saw another festive Anthology I couldn’t help but pick up I’ll Be Home for Christmas! I got it a while ago – mainly because one of the authors is Holly Bourne – but didn’t get around to reading it yet as I was waiting for the festive Season! The Anthology’s main theme is home, but it also includes a perspective on how this relates to Christmas! I was also so in the mood to do a reread of The Book Thief as well as Harry Potter so I picked them out for the rest of my TBR! Both books are perfect reads for the winter time 😍

Magical Readathon: Christmas as Hogwarts πŸŽ„

The Magical Readathon returns with another extra special Readathon event, this time focused all on Christmas at Hogwarts! I adore the Magical Readathons, so I was super excited to learn that there was going to be a special festive version of it! The Readathon takes place from December 17th to December 26th, meaning that this is a longer Readathon than the others on this list and also goes a bit beyond Christmas! There are lots of fun reading challenges as well, this time with lots of choices, so you decide what path you wan to take! If you want to know more check out the Readathon Twitter or watch the video that I have linked down below!

My Magical Feast TBR πŸŽ„

  1. ??? (I cannot know that yet) πŸŽ„ Finish your coursework πŸŽ„ Finish your current read
  2. My True Love Gave to Me (Anthology) πŸŽ„REREAD πŸŽ„ Help Hagrid decorate the trees πŸŽ„ Read a book with a golden detail
  3. A Christmas Carol (Charles Dickens) πŸŽ„REREAD πŸŽ„ Drink mulled wine at the 3 Broomsticks πŸŽ„ Read a book you can read in an evening
  4. Fireblood or Wayfarer (Elly Blake / Alexandra Bracken) πŸŽ„ Attend the Yule Ball πŸŽ„ Read a book you had to prepare yourself for
  5. Harry Potter 3 (Anthology) πŸŽ„REREAD πŸŽ„ Use the Invisiblity cloak to sneak into the restricted sectionπŸŽ„ Read a banned book

The Magical Feast is the longest Christmas Readathon that I’m taking part in, therefore my TBR is a bit longer, as I aim to complete all the challenges and read 5 books in order to do so. Like I said before I adore the Magical Readathon events and this one is so creative and festive! It also allows you to choose between reading prompts πŸ’— I especially love the first prompt, as it allows you to finish the book you were reading before the Readathon and count it, which is amazing! Therefore, I don’t yet have a book for this prompt as I cannot know what book I will read directly before the Magical Feast! Then I choose two of my Christmas Favorites – A Christmas Carol as well as My True Love Gave to Me – as I reread them every year and they always manage to put me in such a festive mood. A Christmas Carol is also the perfect read for a nice winter evening,  so it fits the prompt very well! In a similar fashion, I love the rest of the prompts I choose! I wouldn’t really attend the Yule ball (as I don’t like dancing), but the corresponding prompt is too good to let up as it allows me to tackle some books I have been procrastinating! I have been preparing myself to read Fireblood and Wayfarer all year as I have the Sequel Fear, so now I will finally read one of them! As I’m also doing a little Harry Potter reread, I’ll likely read the third book (as Harry Potter counts as a banned book) – that’s very on brand with the Readathon as it’s all about Hogwarts πŸ’•  Afterwards the reward is to watch a Harry Potter movie if you want to ✨

  2. These all look so fun! And ironically make me want to get back into booktubing lol! But I don’t want to stress myself by committing to a challenge though I’d love to! Oh the holiday time struggle!

      1. I’ve thought of doing like a one day or a 24 hour of maybe 24 hours through out a week sort of readathon! It’ll stretch it out without making me feel like I have to stop everything for a whole day lol though dropping everything for a whole day would be nice!

  3. You have such a great TBR for all these readathons!! I was planning to take part in Tis a Season a Thon too but then exams hit me hard πŸ˜… But I’ll definitely take part in the Magical Readathon Feast! I love these magical readathons 😍 I had never heard of the My True Love Gave to Me anthology and it seems to have amazing contributors!! Now I’m thinking that I might get a copy of that for the readathon, it fits perfectly with the Hagrid prompt and I really want to read something Christmasy!

I wanted to exchange presents in the common room and then wear Molly’s sweater but I’m having a bit of a hard time fulfilling those prompts πŸ€” It’s difficult to know whether a book will have presents parents and good friendship relations before reading it. So I might take the Yule ball as well even though I wouldn’t attend it in reality πŸ˜…

    1. Thank you!! Oh nooo 😱 I hope the exams went well for you πŸ’• I’m gladly spared until February, then it’s exam time for me as well. The Magical Feast is the best, I love all of the Readathons as well, they are always so creative and speak to my HP loving heart 😍 That would be amazing! I loved almost all of the stories in the Anthology and it was SO festive! It’s going to be one of my first reads for the Readathon πŸ’—

I always find it difficult to figure out these kinds of things as well, as you can only rely on what other people have said about the book! It was the same for me: I would never attend (I cannot dance to save my life), but the prompt sounded good πŸ˜„
